About the Role
We are seeking a Section 508 Document Remediation Specialist to ensure digital documents, web content, training materials, and multimedia products meet federal accessibility requirements. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with document remediation, accessibility testing, and quality assurance.
This is a fully remote position based in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Review and remediate Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, web, and multimedia content for Section 508 compliance.
- Correct document structure, reading order, headings, tables, forms, hyperlinks, color contrast, and alternative text.
- Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing, including assistive technology checks.
- Validate conformance with applicable Section 508 and WCAG requirements.
- Prepare accessibility findings, remediation logs, and compliance documentation.
- Provide practical accessibility guidance to content, communications, training, and web teams.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 1 year of Section 508 accessibility remediation experience.
- Proficiency remediating PDF and Microsoft 365 documents.
- Knowledge of federal accessibility requirements and WCAG Level AA success criteria.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies.
- Strong attention to detail, quality assurance, documentation, and client communication skills.
- Ability to obtain government clearance.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- DHS Trusted Tester, IAAP CPACC, IAAP WAS, or related accessibility certification.
- Experience supporting higher education/federal government programs or contracts.
- Experience with SharePoint Online and accessible multimedia.
Education and Training
- High School Diploma or GED
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
