The Position:

The Senior Azure Cloud & Network Engineer is responsible for owning the organization's Microsoft Azure platform and hybrid connectivity end to end, including architecture, networking, automation, security, cost, and reliability, and setting the engineering standards the rest of the organization builds against.

This is a senior, hands-on individual contributor role with enterprise-wide responsibility for the Azure infrastructure supporting business-critical healthcare applications, data platforms, and integrations. The ideal candidate has both designed an Azure environment from the ground up and owned its ongoing administration, security, and optimization over time.

This position reports to the Infrastructure and DevOps Manager and partners closely with Software Engineering, Security, Data Platform, Enterprise Applications, Finance, and external technology providers. Responsibilities Include:

• Architect and administer Azure infrastructure across compute, networking, storage, and identity using Terraform or Bicep as the source of truth, owning it through the full lifecycle after implementation.
• Serve as Soleo Health's primary technical owner for Azure, including the landing zone (management groups, subscriptions, Policy, RBAC, naming/tagging) and Entra ID integration.
• Design, administer, and troubleshoot Azure networking and hybrid connectivity, VNets, NSGs, Firewall, App Gateway, Load Balancer, Private Link, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, DNS, and hub-and-spoke, across Azure, corporate sites, hosted environments, and partners.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) and reusable IaC modules, with automated drift remediation and compliance checks.
• Lead reliability engineering: SLOs, observability via Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, incident response, root-cause analysis, and postmortems, including leading resolution of complex incidents across internal teams and vendors.
• Oversea cloud cost governance, rightsizing, reservations, tagging, forecasting, and anomaly detection, partnering with IT management and finance to explain variances and evaluate architecture tradeoffs.
• Partner with security on hardening and HIPAA/HITRUST/SOC 2 compliance; own the design and regular testing of backup, disaster-recovery, and business-continuity plans.
• Evaluate new Azure services and architecture patterns and provide technical direction to managed-service providers and other vendors, holding them to contractual service levels.
• Mentor engineers, review designs and pull requests, and communicate infrastructure risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to technical and executive stakeholders.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

• 8+ years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, network engineering, platform, DevOps, or SRE, including 5+ years hands-on with Microsoft Azure.
• Proven ownership of a production Azure environment across its full lifecycle — design, implementation, administration, security, reliability, and cost.
• Deep expertise with core Azure services: VNets, App Gateway, Load Balancer, Private Link, Storage, VMs, Firewall, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, DNS, SQL, Entra ID, and Key Vault.
• Advanced networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, routing, firewalls, segmentation, zero trust, and hybrid-cloud connectivity.
• Production infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform and/or Bicep), including module design, state management, and drift remediation.
• Scripting and automation in PowerShell, Python, plus Azure CLI.
• Demonstrated on-call ownership, complex incident leadership, and coordination across teams and providers.
• Experience with cost management/FinOps, DR/BC design and testing, and directing MSPs or infrastructure vendors.
• Strong remote, cross-time-zone communication skills, including presenting risk and tradeoffs to senior leadership, and the ability to operate independently with limited specialist backup.
