Join Delta Dental of Iowa for Summer 2027 as a Marketing Intern to support marketing, product and sales initiatives across multiple lines of business. You will assist with content development, campaign execution, market research, and project coordination while gaining hands-on experience within a collaborative marketing department. 


Here is your chance to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom with meaningful work, network with fellow interns, and grow your marketing career all while making a difference in our community. 


This temporary, full-time internship will start on May 19, 2027, and work from our Johnston, Iowa location. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain experience supporting integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Learn how marketing strategies support organizational growth and customer engagement.
  • Develop professional writing and communication skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Gain exposure to marketing automation tools and digital marketing best practices.
  • Learn how to analyze marketing performance metrics and campaign results.
  • Develop project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Product, and Operations. 
  • Gain an understanding of dental, vision, legal, life and disability insurance and employee benefits marketing. 
  • Assist Marketing team with reviewing projects, sharing ideas, and enhancing tools.
  • Partner with Communications to ensure marketing campaigns follow brand consistency 
  • Assist with Sales support presentations for client meetings.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Complete special projects on time with high quality.
  • Engage in programs and networking opportunities to strengthen business acumen in the insurance industry. 
  • Support internship program by motivating and driving participation among intern peers to fully engage with opportunities available throughout the summer.
  • Represent Delta Dental of Iowa as well as the other Delta Dental companies in a professional manner both internally and externally.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

  

Required: 

  1. Must be an undergraduate student working toward a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Business Administration or related field.
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA (verified through transcript).
  3. Current enrollment in a college or university.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Strong attention to detail.
  6. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  7. Participants will be required to submit a written analysis of project work and present a summary of analysis to leadership at the end of the program.
  8. Freshman and Sophomore candidates will participate in the Insure Your Future program with specific leadership development/networking opportunities.

Preferred: 

  1. Interest in digital marketing.
  2. Basic design skills.
  3. Basic data analysis and reporting skills.
