SCHEDULE: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
Occasional nights, weekends and holidays as needed. May be required to work Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.
Hybrid option: a minimum of two days in the office with additional onsite work required for staff events, meetings and engagement.
Pays $57,000 - $66,000 annually DOE (Salary ranges provided are based on relevant experience and skill set)

About the Position:
Pine Street Inn is seeking an internal communications specialist who will be responsible for developing and executing internal communications strategies that inspire, engage, inform and motivate more than 700 staff members across 40+ locations.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic multi-channel journalist with excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills. This person will bring a commitment to Pine Street’s mission to end homelessness, approaching their work with enthusiasm and creativity, and demonstrating the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
As a member of the growing marketing and communications team, the internal communications specialist will work with all areas of the organization. These will include the office of the president, departments such as people and culture, housing with support, shelter and others along with initiatives like workforce transformation to ensure that employees have the information needed to feel connected to Pine Street’s mission, values, goals and each other.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an internal communications strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision and values, using a variety of channels including creating content for social media, email, SharePoint and Zoom
- Serve as a project manager for complex, multi-faceted internal communications initiatives, working with all internal departments to ensure timely execution and delivery
- Write, edit and distribute engaging content that informs and inspires employees — including updates from the president and senior leadership team, announcements, internal newsletters, Q&As and employee spotlights — to support recruitment and retention efforts
- Work with ITS to update and manage Pine Street’s SharePoint site and content, providing a user-friendly experience for all employees
- Monitor and report on SharePoint and other internal communications initiatives’ metrics, making recommendations for improvement where necessary
- Act as a liaison between the communications team and other departments, providing counsel and guidance on how best to communicate internally
- Stay up-to-date on internal communications industry trends and best practices, sharing insights and ideas with the team
- Assist with the development and implementation of employee engagement surveys, focus groups, and other research efforts to improve effective communication methods
- Ensure that internal communications tools allow for communication with staff who may have limited/no access to email
- As part of the marketing and communications team, provide communications support during times of crisis or change
Skills and Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field
- 2–3 years of experience in communications with a focus on internal, public relations or a related field
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful internal communications campaigns
- Familiarity with analytics and communications metrics
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of employees across 40 locations
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, AI-assisted writing tools (such as Claude), short-form video creation and Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Premier video editing
