Description
The Drexel Way:

We don’t just sell lumber; we Supply. Happiness. Drexel is Team Member-owned and community-driven. With six retail hubs and three manufacturing plants across Wisconsin, we’ve been a Top Workplace every year since 2011. Why? Because we hire for heart and train for skill. When you join Team Blue, you aren't just a team member - you’re an owner.

The Mission:

As a Production Scheduler, your primary objective is to serve as the operational backbone for our Roof and Floor Truss manufacturing product workflow. You are responsible for balancing immediate shop floor scheduling with high-level design order triage, ensuring jobs are processed accurately, shop floors run at peak efficiency, and materials hit job sites precisely when needed. As the air traffic controller between sales, truss design, component manufacturing, and site delivery, you ensure that our commitment to the builder is executed flawlessly from initial queue entry to jobsite delivery.

Defining the Role:
  • Shop-Level Scheduling & Systems Management: Serve as the primary driver for entering new jobs into Mitek and updating daily schedules in real time; coordinate directly with production leads and the Design Manager to build realistic, capacity-matched timelines.
  • Order Triage & Capacity Allocation: Audit incoming truss orders upfront (verifying form completeness, missing files, and preliminary plans) to eliminate time-wasting delays; strategically assign design tasks based on individual designer skill levels.
  • Strategic Timing & Dynamic Scheduling: Monitor critical deadlines (submittals, approvals) and continuously reassign design work to balance team capacity; collaborate with sales to constantly adjust delivery dates so the shop floor builds the correct job next.
  • Lead-Time Communication: Actively inform sales of current lead times based on design and manufacturing capacity; serve as the primary point of contact to evaluate feasibility for sub-standard or expedited lead-time requests.
The Essentials:
  • Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience or proficiency with Mitek Management, Bistrack Task Log modules, and Google Suite.
  • Core Competencies: Strong time management, highly detailed organizational skills, and clear cross-functional communication abilities.
  • Mindset: Adaptable, proactive, and able to perform independently or collaboratively under dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing conditions.
What Success Looks Like:

Performance is measured by your direct impact on shop floor efficiency, pipeline velocity, and cross-functional delivery execution:

  • Schedule Realization & Shop Throughput: Zero shop floor downtime due to scheduling gaps; continuous alignment on building the "right" job next.
  • Order Triage Precision: 100% upfront audit of incoming orders with zero missing files or incomplete forms reaching the design queue.
  • Workload Balancing & Milestone Tracking: Balanced designer capacity utilization with on-time delivery across critical submittal and approval milestones.
  • Lead-Time Communication Reliability: Transparent lead-time tracking with proactive alignment across sales and jobsite delivery dates.
  • Workload Driver: The primary workload metric is the total volume of Roof and Floor Truss orders triaged, scheduled, and aligned across design and manufacturing capacity.
