Heartline Staffing is recruiting an experienced Fire Protection Engineer for a full-time engineering opportunity in Fort Collins, Colorado. This position requires a licensed Professional Engineer with a Fire Protection Engineering license and significant healthcare-project experience to lead the design of complex fire protection, plumbing and life-safety systems.

Serving as Engineer of Record, this professional will develop comprehensive construction drawings and specifications, perform technical calculations and analyses, ensure strict code compliance, conduct field investigations and coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, clients and other project stakeholders.

COMPENSATION
• $120,000-$180,000

FIRE PROTECTION & PLUMBING SYSTEM DESIGN
• Lead fire protection and plumbing system design
• Design automatic sprinkler layouts
• Perform fire pump sizing
• Design associated piping systems
• Support medical gas system design
• Support domestic water-heating system design
• Develop comprehensive fire protection and mechanical construction drawings

HEALTHCARE & LIFE-SAFETY ENGINEERING
• Design life-safety systems for complex healthcare environments
• Apply advanced engineering concepts and practices to healthcare facilities
• Perform critical system calculations
• Perform Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA)
• Perform equipment selections for healthcare facilities
• Develop job-specific specifications addressing medical-sector requirements

CODE COMPLIANCE
• Ensure designs comply with applicable NFPA standards, including NFPA 13, NFPA 20 and NFPA 99
• Apply applicable ASHRAE requirements
• Apply International Building Code (IBC) requirements
• Maintain technical excellence and code compliance throughout design development

ENGINEER OF RECORD & LEADERSHIP
• Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff
• Mentor developing engineers
• Maintain ownership of engineering design and technical deliverables

FIELD ENGINEERING
• Conduct field investigations
• Perform site visits
• Conduct construction inspections
• Verify field implementation aligns with design specifications

MULTIDISCIPLINARY COORDINATION
• Coordinate with architects
• Coordinate with electrical engineers
• Collaborate directly with clients
• Integrate fire protection and plumbing systems into the overall building design

TRAVEL
• Travel up to 20% depending on project needs

Requirements

• 8+ years as a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) REQUIRED
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license REQUIRED
• Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) license REQUIRED
• Healthcare-specific project background REQUIRED
• NCEES Registration REQUIRED
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution REQUIRED
• High proficiency in Revit REQUIRED
• High proficiency in AutoCAD MEP REQUIRED
• High proficiency in Trace 3D REQUIRED
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite REQUIRED
• U.S. Citizenship due to Federal Contractor status REQUIRED
• Ability to travel up to 20% depending on project needs REQUIRED
• Ability to work in-office in Fort Collins, CO with the stated flexibility REQUIRED

PREFERRED
• Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) credential
• LEED credential
• Green Globes credential
