We have internships available in various departments of our exciting and fast-paced visual communication organization. As an intern at Imagine, you will have the opportunity to collaborate on creative and production capabilities all under one roof.


 As a Structural Design Intern for Imagine Studio, you will gain vital experience learning and working with a fast-paced creative and print production company. You will gain insight into the creative and production efforts of a dynamic POP Display, Packaging, Structural Design Engineering, and Prototyping department. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the initial development process of a creative project and gain exposure to projects being produced all the way through to their final stages. An internship with The Imagine Group means hands-on, real-life experience learning from experts in the field of creative branding, design, and print production.


The successful candidate will be passionate about the graphic design CAD Design and Engineering, be an excellent communicator, self-motivated, ambitious, and have superb organizational abilities. Internship will be an onsite role based out of our Twin Cities office in Shakopee, MN.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS YOU WILL GAIN

  • Assist with design development, and outputting dimensional mock-ups of POP displays and packaging (folding cartons) utilizing ArtiosCAD, Adobe CC, various CNC cutters, color printers, and materials. 
  • Assist with creating and maintaining procedural, instructional, and technical documentation. 
  • Assist Structural Designers to work directly with Account Executives and Account Managers across Imagine to efficiently execute structural design projects. 
  • Work collaboratively with creative design team members for rapid ideation and iterative development. 
  • Collaborate with production departments to optimize designs for Imagine’s manufacturing capabilities. 
  • Assist Structural Designers in consulting with the estimating and production departments to minimize production complexity and costs for Imagine’s operations and clients. 
  • Work with Structural Designers to meet and work closely with clients as needed, developing consultative, ethical, and professional support skills. 
  • Participate in and adhere to the implementation of process improvements, including data collection, standardized procedures, automation tools, and technology updates. 
  • Develop experience to identify, translate, and implement factors critical to quality as determined by project stakeholders. 
  • Develop skills and expertise to design both POP displays and packaging projects as demand requires. 
  • Author and build assembly instructions for clients and other third parties to assemble designed displays. 
  • Develop innovative and strategic structural design solutions across various mediums, from concept to implementation, that translate, support, and activate our clients’ brands. 
  • Partner with Structural Designers to oversee the production of your design project deliverables while coordinating internal communication and necessary updates to project timelines. 
  • Explore perspectives on practical design options for both internal discussion and client meetings. 
  • Research and incorporate industry trends and technologies, including innovations in printing, design, and graphics.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION

  • High School Diploma and currently enrolled in an Industrial Design, Packaging, or Merchandising Design education program 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • Hands-on experience with ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks, and The Adobe Creative Suite strongly preferred 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional standing and walking  
  • Manual dexterity for detailed and repetitive work 
  • Ability to distinguish colors for technical art reproduction 
  • Frequent sitting for prolonged periods of time, working with computers 
  • Chemicals: Inks, solvents, and adhesives 
  • Assembling and staging displays with product  
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull

PAY STATEMENT 

The national pay range for this role is listed above. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
