The Supervisor is accountable for the overall performance, responsiveness, and effectiveness of the maintenance team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, equipment reliability, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, lead, and develop Maintenance Technicians to ensure effective coverage and support of manufacturing operations.
- Establish clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, responsiveness, communication, housekeeping, and professionalism.

- Serve as the primary maintenance leadership resource for the 2nd shift.
Production & Equipment Support
- Partner closely with Production leadership to respond to equipment issues and minimize production interruptions.
- Monitor equipment downtime and maintenance response to ensure critical production needs are addressed promptly.
- Establish priorities when multiple equipment issues occur simultaneously, balancing safety, production requirements, equipment criticality, and available resources.
- Ensure critical-path equipment and production requirements receive appropriate maintenance support.
- Communicate equipment status, expected repair timelines, and potential production impacts to Production and management.
- Coordinate recovery efforts when equipment failures affect production schedules.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and ensure permanent corrective actions are pursued rather than relying solely on temporary repairs.
- Work with Production and Engineering to identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
Maintenance Planning & Reliability
- Oversee the execution of preventive maintenance activities to ensure scheduled maintenance is completed accurately and on time.
- Review maintenance requirements and establish priorities for planned and unplanned work.
- Monitor preventive maintenance completion, equipment downtime, repeat failures, and other maintenance performance indicators.
- Ensure accurate documentation of repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment history, and work performed.
- Identify trends and recurring failures and lead or support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Recommend equipment repairs, modifications, upgrades, or replacement based on reliability, safety, cost, and operational requirements.
- Assist in developing and maintaining effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Ensure maintenance tools, equipment, spare parts, and materials are available to support the team's needs.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules to minimize disruption.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to Maintenance Technicians during complex troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Assist with diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC, and controls-related equipment problems.
- Support troubleshooting of CNC equipment, including systems such as Mazak, HAAS, Robert E. Morse, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting programmable logic controllers, input/output devices, and machine controls using ladder logic and related diagnostic methods.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, and equipment documentation.
- Work with Engineering and other technical resources to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ensure repairs and modifications are completed using sound technical practices and appropriate procedures.
- Operate or utilize machining, fabrication, and other equipment when necessary to support maintenance activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment and reinforcing safe work practices.
- Ensure Maintenance Technicians follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and company guidelines.
- Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout practices are followed during maintenance and repair activities.
- Identify unsafe equipment, conditions, or practices and take immediate action to address them.
- Ensure maintenance work is performed in a manner that protects employees, equipment, product, and facilities.
- Participate in safety investigations, corrective actions, and continuous safety improvement efforts.
- Ensure safety, quality, compliance, and integrity are never compromised to meet production schedules or output requirements.
Engineering & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with Engineering to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Support equipment improvements, modifications, installations, and new equipment implementation.
- Identify opportunities to reduce unplanned downtime, improve equipment reliability, and increase maintenance efficiency.
- Encourage technicians to identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives involving equipment, processes, maintenance practices, and workplace organization.
