Collections Specialist
Description

About the Role:

If you're a great communicator who likes solving problems and helping people find a path forward, this role is for you. As a Collections Specialist on our Loan Servicing team, you'll work with borrowers in our Peak Bank consumer loan portfolio to understand their situation, get past-due accounts back on track, and find payment solutions that work for everyone.

This is a people-first collections role. You'll balance empathy with accountability, and you'll have clear guidelines, training, and a supportive team behind you.

What You'll Do:

  • Talk with borrowers by phone, mail, and approved digital channels to resolve past-due accounts
  • Listen to understand what's behind a missed payment, then offer options such as payment arrangements, extensions, due-date changes, and hardship programs
  • Explain balances, amounts due, payment history, and loan terms clearly and respectfully
  • Manage your own queue of accounts: follow up, track payment commitments, and move accounts forward
  • Document every conversation and decision accurately in our loan servicing system
  • Use approved methods to locate borrowers who are hard to reach
  • Escalate accounts that need additional review, settlement, recovery, charge-off, or legal attention
  • Follow bank policy and consumer protection, privacy, and credit reporting rules
  • Help us get better by taking part in training, quality reviews, and audits

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of customer service, call center, banking, or other client-facing experience
  • Strong, clear communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Ability to stay calm, empathetic, and professional in difficult conversations
  • Good judgment and strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, and learning new software

Preferred (not required)

  • Experience in collections, loan servicing, banking, or consumer lending
  • Familiarity with FDCPA and consumer protection regulations
  • Experience in a high-volume, metrics-driven environment
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Don't meet every preferred qualification? Apply anyway. We hire for attitude and aptitude and can train the rest!

Requirements

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
