The Role

Ready to put your engineering education into practice? As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the design of high-voltage substations while working alongside experienced engineers on projects that help power communities. This role offers meaningful project exposure, mentorship, and the opportunity to learn what a career in the utility industry can look like.

What Your Day Will Look Like

• Assist with the development and modification of substation design deliverables, including one-lines, conduit schedules, layouts, relay panel arrangements, cable lists, and bill of materials.
• Support the preparation of engineering and construction documents for new and existing high-voltage substations, including plans, sections, yard layouts, and equipment details.
• Assist with developing and updating technical specifications for major substation equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers on protection, control, and monitoring system integration.
• Apply field markups to engineering drawings and assist with basic engineering calculations under supervision.
• Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and other assignments that support project delivery and professional development.

What You'll Bring to the Familia

Essentials to Succeed:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Rising Junior or Senior entering Fall 2027.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to participate in occasional field visits and site surveys.

What Will Make You Standout:

• Interest in power systems, substations, or the utility industry.
• Passed or actively working toward the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, and ANSI.
• Experience with AutoCAD through coursework, projects, or previous internships.
