Spectra Gutter Systems is seeking a hands-on Assistant Branch Manager to help lead warehouse, fabrication, and distribution operations at our Austin, TX branch. This working leadership position combines daily team direction with direct involvement in material handling, equipment operation, inventory management, and customer order fulfillment.
Working alongside a team of five, the Assistant Branch Manager will coordinate floor activities, maintain quality and safety standards, and ensure customer orders are accurately prepared for delivery or pickup. The position also assumes responsibility for branch operations when the Branch Manager is unavailable.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily receiving, inventory storage, order preparation, loading, and shipping activities.
- Actively participate in warehouse and fabrication work, including forklift operation, coil handling and preparation, material movement, and equipment operation.
- Fabricate one-piece offset components using established machinery and procedures.
- Maintain an organized warehouse, ensuring materials are properly stored and inventory movements are accurately recorded.
- Inspect incoming materials and outgoing products for quality, condition, and quantity; verify every customer order at the dock before loading or release.
- Assign daily work, monitor progress, and train employees on equipment operation, material handling, and established branch procedures.
- Reinforce safe work practices, lead required safety meetings, and participate in equipment and facility inspections.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, order entry, pickups, deliveries, and payment processing.
- Oversee branch activities in the Branch Manager's absence, including customer service, employee coordination, and opening and closing procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Hands-on forklift operating experience, including loading, unloading, and moving materials.
- Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, fabrication, distribution, or similar industrial operations.
- Knowledge of receiving, inventory handling, order fulfillment, and shipping processes.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn and operate fabrication equipment.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
- Strong communication, organizational, and basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of relevant warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial operations experience.
- Previous experience as a working lead, warehouse supervisor, or assistant manager.
- Experience with metal fabrication, coil handling, or building materials distribution.
- Customer service, order entry, or payment-processing experience.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position operates primarily in an active warehouse and fabrication environment. Responsibilities involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, loading, unloading, and handling coil and other materials while working around forklifts and operating machinery.
