Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) is a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia, PA providing human services to the community including early childhood education, foster care & adoption, child welfare, mental & behavioral health, community and economic development, housing, violence intervention, and services to community schools. APM has been servicing the North Philadelphia community since 1970.  


 JOB SUMMARY

APM is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team! Are you organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping people? APM is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to provide administrative support to our HR Department and help ensure a positive experience for employees and applicants. This position supports a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, HRIS data entry, compliance tracking, and general HR administration.


 Some duties and responsibilities include:  

  • Maintain confidential employee personnel files and HR records.
  • Enter and update employee information in the HRIS.
  • Assist with recruitment, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork and onboarding materials.
  • Assist with background checks and employment verifications.
  • Track licenses, certifications, clearances, training, and other required documentation.
  • Support employee changes, separations, and offboarding.
  • Respond to routine employee and applicant inquiries.
  • Assist with timesheets, attendance records, payroll documentation, and benefits enrollment.
  • Support HR events, employee recognition activities, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Perform general administrative duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of administrative or HR experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and data-entry skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidential information.
