Job Overview

Beaver Dam Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dependable and compassionate Charge Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our nursing team on a PRN basis.

The Charge Nurse provides direct nursing care while overseeing the day-to-day activities of nursing assistants and helping ensure residents receive safe, high-quality, person-centered care. This role is ideal for a nurse who is confident in clinical decision-making, enjoys leading a team, and wants the flexibility of PRN scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care and oversee nursing assistants during the assigned shift. 
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility procedures. 
  • Assess residents and promptly communicate changes in condition to physicians, families, and appropriate clinical leadership. 
  • Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and resident care activities. 
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. 
  • Ensure resident care plans and physician orders are followed. 
  • Monitor medication, treatment, narcotic, and clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance. 
  • Provide guidance and support to CNAs while promoting teamwork and accountability. 
  • Respond to resident needs and assist with clinical procedures as appropriate. 
  • Support quality assurance, infection prevention, resident safety, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

 

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered Kentucky RN or LPN license
  • Current CPR certification. 
  • Long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred. 
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, communication, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to supervise and support nursing assistants effectively. 
  • Ability to prioritize resident needs and make sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and work collaboratively with residents, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team. 
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including prolonged standing/walking and lifting, pushing, pulling, or transferring 50 pounds or more as needed.
