Position Summary
The Engineering Intern will support the engineering team at Mixer Systems in the design, development, and production of custom industrial equipment, including concrete batch plants and related systems. This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world manufacturing, engineering design processes, and cross-functional collaboration with operations, production, and field service teams.
The intern will assist with a variety of engineering tasks, gaining practical experience in mechanical design, documentation, and problem-solving within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist engineers with design and drafting of mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks or similar)
- Support development and updates of engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation
- Participate in engineering projects related to batch plant systems, mixers, and material handling equipment
- Collaborate with manufacturing and operations teams to support production needs and resolve design-related issues
- Assist with product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and standardization efforts
- Review and organize engineering files, drawings, and documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Perform general administrative or project support tasks within the engineering department
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Strong interest in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or mechanical design
- Basic knowledge of CAD software (Creo preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a hands-on environment

- This position operates in a combination of office and manufacturing (shop) environments within a custom industrial equipment facility.
- The office environment is climate-controlled with standard lighting and minimal noise.
- The manufacturing environment may include exposure to moving machinery, moderate to high noise levels, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures depending on the season.
- The intern will be required to follow all company safety policies and procedures when in production areas.
