Next Gen Worship Leader

POSITION SUMMARY

The Next Gen Worship Leader provides pastoral and musical leadership that helps students encounter and respond to God through biblical, Christ-centered worship. This role leads worship primarily within Student Ministry while recruiting, discipling, coaching, and developing student worship volunteers in their faith, character, musicianship, and leadership. In partnership with Next Gen and Worship staff, the Next Gen Worship Leader supports worship planning and execution across student, worship center, and church-wide environments while contributing to a healthy and unified worship culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead worship regularly in Student Ministry gatherings and, as assigned, in worship center services, midweek gatherings, and other CHCC ministry environments. 
  • Provide pastoral leadership, prayer, discipleship, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to student worship volunteers. 
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop student worship volunteers, equipping them to grow in spiritual maturity, musicianship, character, and worship leadership. 
  • Plan and prepare student worship sets and musical elements that align with biblical teaching, ministry objectives, and the overall direction of each gathering. 
  • Lead vocally and instrumentally on guitar or piano with the musical preparation and proficiency necessary to support congregational worship. 
  • Coach student musicians and vocalists through rehearsals, individual feedback, musical development, and leadership opportunities. 
  • Lead team devotionals, prayer, and conversations that strengthen students' understanding and practice of biblical worship. 
  • Collaborate with Worship, Next Gen, Production, Communications, and other ministry teams to coordinate cohesive and well-prepared worship experiences. 
  • Manage student worship scheduling, volunteer communication, service plans, charts, tracks, and related resources within Planning Center.
  • Prepare and support Ableton sessions, tracks, playback systems, and related worship technology in partnership with Production staff. 
  • Contribute to Worship team planning, musical direction, songwriting, arranging, and music production consistent with CHCC's theology and ministry priorities. 
  • Support church-wide and seasonal worship gatherings, including Christmas, Easter, VBS, and other special services or events requiring worship leadership. 
  • Evaluate rehearsals, gatherings, team development, and student engagement to identify improvements and strengthen ministry effectiveness. 
  • Assist with the organization, care, readiness, and appropriate use of worship spaces, instruments, equipment, and supplies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No direct supervisory responsibility.

Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Demonstrated experience leading congregational worship vocally and instrumentally on guitar or piano in a church, ministry, or comparable worship environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with students or developing volunteers through coaching, mentoring, discipleship, or ministry leadership. 
  • Working knowledge of Planning Center or demonstrated ability to effectively use a comparable worship planning and volunteer scheduling platform. 
  • Experience planning worship sets, preparing rehearsals, and coordinating musicians, vocalists, and service elements. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with ministry, worship, and production teams in the planning and execution of gatherings. 

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Worship Arts, Ministry, Theology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant ministry experience. 
  • Experience specifically leading and developing student worship teams. 
  • Experience with Ableton Live, multitrack, playback systems, or related worship technology. 
  • Experience with vocal arranging, songwriting, music production, or musical arranging. 
  • Experience developing worship programming for middle school or high school ministry environments.

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrate the vocal and instrumental proficiency necessary to lead congregational worship and coach developing student musicians and vocalists. 
  • Demonstrate sound biblical and theological judgment related to worship leadership, song selection, discipleship, and ministry to students. 
  • Build appropriate, trustworthy, and ministry-focused relationships with students while maintaining CHCC's expectations regarding boundaries, safety, and care. 
  • Use Planning Center effectively for service planning, scheduling, resource management, and volunteer communication. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and support Ableton Live, playback systems, and other worship technologies required for assigned ministry environments.
  • Committed to ongoing personal growth in leadership, worship ministry, and biblical understanding
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); able to utilize standard tools for documentation, communication, and task coordination.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with common office technologies, including email, printers/copiers, shared drives, and organizational software platforms; able to troubleshoot basic issues and learn new tools quickly.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and working under pressure.
  • Available for evenings, weekends, or holidays as required.

Salary Description
$52,310-$78,465/Annually
