INTRODUCTION:
This position is part of a team that is responsible for complete custodial services for all Tribal facilities in the Siletz area.
DUTIES:
- Performs various cleaning and light maintenance activities in all Siletz Tribal facilities;
- Meet the custodial specifications for each tribal facility, which includes: dusting furniture; mopping, scrubbing, waxing and buffing floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets; empty wastebaskets and properly dispose of waste; cleans walls, windows, and blinds; wash coffee cups and coffee equipment; and dust ceiling fixtures;
- Performs aseptic cleaning in various medical rooms as directed in procedural guidelines;
- Dispose of hazardous waste material, and adheres to all proper procedures when collecting, boxing, handling, and transporting hazardous materials.
- Know proper procedures for shutting off utilities in emergency situations, which includes knowledge of shut-off points for water, electricity, oxygen, and nitrous oxide to provide direction to repair people.
- Sort recyclable material.
- Takes inventory, maintains storage areas, and replenishes supplies.
- Keep restrooms in clean, orderly, sanitary conditions. Clean, disinfect, and deodorize bathroom fixtures. Ensure restrooms are properly stocked with the necessary supplies.
- Notify Public Works Supervisor of any damage or repair work needed; or safely hazards.
- Secure facility upon completion of duties.
- Assist Public Works Supervisor in planning annual budget for Custodial program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED and 6-months experience in a custodial, maintenance, or related field - OR – one year experience in a custodial, maintenance or related field.
Experience in:
- Custodial and maintenance duties sufficient to effectively clean and maintain tribal buildings.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively using both verbal and written skills, and be able to shift assignments based on priorities established.
- Read labels on cleaning solvents and adhere to stringent safety requirements. Must be able to work independently.
- Operate hand and electrical tools necessary for custodial and basic maintenance activities (i.e. floor cleaning machines, etc.).
- Be flexible to meet any changes in work requirements and schedules.
- Get along well with co-workers and public.
Other:
- Must be physically able to safely and efficiently perform the duties of the position.
- Must be able to lift heavy items, and stand and move about for long periods of time.
- Must possess First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to acquire certification within 6 months of hire.
- Employee must be able to work early morning or late night hours, and occasionally on weekends.
