Summary
The Regional Sales Director reports to the National Sales Director and is responsible for driving sales growth and expanding NexPoint's presence throughout an assigned territory. This role serves as the primary external representative to financial advisors, registered investment advisors (RIAs), wirehouses, regional broker-dealers, and independent broker-dealers, promoting NexPoint's alternative investment platform and investment solutions.
The successful candidate will develop and execute a territory business plan, cultivate strong advisor relationships, identify new business opportunities, and partner closely with internal sales professionals to increase assets under management and market share. This role requires extensive travel, strong consultative sales skills, and the ability to communicate sophisticated investment strategies to financial professionals.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute the sales strategy for a multi-state territory, with accountability for asset growth and advisor engagement.
- Develop and maintain relationships with financial advisors, branch managers, home office personnel, and key decision-makers across the territory.
- Identify and cultivate new advisor relationships while strengthening and expanding existing partnerships.
- Deliver compelling presentations on NexPoint's investment products, market outlook, and portfolio solutions.
- Educate advisors on alternative investment strategies, including real estate, private credit, interval funds, private placements, BDCs, and other income-oriented investments.
- Partner with Internal Wholesalers to coordinate advisor coverage, business development initiatives, and follow-up activities.
- Create and execute targeted territory business plans, including advisor segmentation, sales campaigns, and travel scheduling.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge and industry expertise to effectively position NexPoint's solutions in a competitive marketplace.
- Attend industry conferences, advisor events, due diligence meetings, and other networking opportunities to build brand awareness and generate sales opportunities.
- Utilize CRM tools and sales reporting systems to track activity, manage pipelines, and monitor territory performance.
- Collaborate with marketing, product management, compliance, and senior leadership teams to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Series 7, Series 63, and Life Insurance licenses required.
- Must reside within the assigned territory and be willing to travel approximately 80% of the time.
- Minimum 3-5 years of successful external wholesaling experience with a documented track record of asset growth and sales achievement.
- Experience covering wirehouse, regional broker-dealer, independent broker-dealer, and/or RIA channels.
- Experience distributing alternative investments, real estate investment products, private placements, interval funds, mutual funds, annuities, or similar investment solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted advisor relationships and influence investment decision makers.
- Strong consultative sales, presentation, and territory management skills.
- Ability to understand and articulate complex investment concepts and market themes to sophisticated audiences.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and entrepreneurial with a strong competitive drive.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal sales, operations, and cross-functional teams.
