Receptionist
Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith P.C. is seeking a professional and service-oriented Receptionist to join our Lansing office. This full-time position is ideal for an organized, dependable individual who enjoys interacting with clients and visitors while providing administrative support in a fast-paced professional environment.
The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for clients, guests, attorneys, and staff. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a positive client experience through exceptional customer service, effective communication, and administrative support that helps ensure the smooth operation of the office.
Previous receptionist, administrative, clerical, or customer service experience is preferred. Experience in a professional office or law firm environment is a plus.
Front Desk & Client Services
- Greet clients, visitors, vendors, and guests in a welcoming and professional manner
- Direct visitors to the appropriate attorney or staff member
- Answer general questions and provide assistance to clients and guests
- Distribute parking validations or parking lot tokens to visitors
- Maintain a professional reception area and positive first impression of the firm
Telephone & Communication Management
- Operate the firm's multi-line phone system during regular business hours
- Professionally answer, screen, and direct incoming telephone calls
- Evaluate and appropriately route calls to attorneys, departments, and staff members
- Communicate courteously and effectively with clients, vendors, and colleagues
Administrative & Clerical Support
- Record PTO time for staff employees using Microsoft Excel
- Enter new client information into the firm's contact management database
- Enter postage costs into the firm's accounting system
- Assist legal assistants and administrative staff with clerical and administrative projects
- Perform general office support duties and other responsibilities as assigned
Professional Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with attorneys, legal assistants, and administrative staff to support day-to-day office operations
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong customer-service mindset
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace culture
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information

Education
- High school diploma or GED required
Experience
- Previous receptionist, administrative, clerical, or customer service experience preferred
- Experience working in a professional office environment preferred
- Prior law firm experience is a plus
