The Integration Architect will serve as a senior technical authority across federal C5I systems integrating into SD-WAN, providing expertise in networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise integration to support modernization efforts across the DoDIN. 

This role ensures that solutions are technically sound, validated in lab environments, and executable at scale across federal operational assets. 


Role & Responsibilities

 

This role supports federal initiatives including: 

  • Enterprise SD-WAN/GuardianNet Gateway 
  • Secure wireless and identity services (ISE) 
  • Automation and orchestration (Ansible, CI/CD) 
  • Integration with federal C5I systems and DoDIN transport 
  • VTS 
  • R21 Coastal, Western Rivers, Alaska 
  • Data Center modernization 

The SME operates across lab validation (C5I/CyKor environments), engineering design and advisory and field execution and troubleshooting 


Key Responsibilities 

C5I Technical Expertise & Advisory 

  • Serve as SME across federal C5I systems, including networks (afloat and ashore), communications systems and cybersecurity architecture 
  • Provide authoritative guidance to engineering teams, PMO and program leadership, and federal stakeholders (e.g., TWH, ISSM) 

Architecture & Engineering Support 

  • Support design and integration of enterprise SD-WAN solutions, identity and access services (e.g., Cisco ISE), secure network architectures aligned to DoDIN 
  • Review and validate HLDs/LLDs, implementation plans, engineering change proposals 

Lab Validation & Technical Testing 

  • Lead or support validation efforts within federal C5I labs and CyKor SD-WAN/integration labs
  • Define acceptance criteria, performance metrics (e.g., SD-WAN vs. legacy routing), failure and resiliency scenarios 
  • Ensure solutions are proven prior to deployment 

Operational Integration & Field Support 

  • Support deployment across cutter environments (afloat constraints), shore units and enterprise gateways 
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues, transport variability (SATCOM, terrestrial, emerging options like Starlink) 
  • Provide rapid technical resolution for issues impacting mission operations 

Cybersecurity & Compliance 

  • Ensure solutions align with RMF requirements, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIGs, federal C5I security policies 
  • Support ATO development and sustainment 
  • Vulnerability remediation and audit readiness 

Automation & Innovation 

  • Support development of automation playbooks (Ansible, scripting), network monitoring and reporting tools 
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual configuration, enhance operational visibility 

Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Interface with federal C5I stakeholders (NET, SEC, TWH), prime contractor PMO, delivery leadership 
  • Provide technical input during PMO syncs, engineering review boards and executive briefings 

Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award with an expected start date in October 2026.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering/architecture in DoD, DHS, or federal environments 
  • Demonstrated expertise in federal C5I systems or similar DoD architectures 
  • Enterprise network design and operations 
  • Deep expertise in routing & switching (BGP, OSPF), WAN technologies and transport resilience 
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies (SD-WAN, ISE, routing platforms), firewalls (FTD or equivalent) 
  • Experience with automation (Ansible, Python), lab-based validation and testing, troubleshooting in operational environments 
  • An active Secret clearance

Required Certifications 

  • DoD 8570/8140 compliant: CompTIA Security+ (minimum) 
  • Preferred: Cisco CCNP or CCIE; CISSP; Red Hat/automation certifications 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Prior experience supporting federal C5I programs, afloat (cutter) communications environments 
  • Familiarity with PKI integration (auto-enrollment, secure onboarding), Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) 
  • Experience working within integration labs (C5I or equivalent), large-scale enterprise deployments 


Location & Work Environment

  • Federal C5I environments (e.g., integration labs, operational sites) 
  • CyKor Lab/Engineering Environment 
  • Travel to federal locations (cutter & shore, CONUS) 
  • Participation in mission-critical troubleshooting and deployment windows 
  • Preferred areas include Washington, DC; Portsmouth/Norfolk/Hampton Roads, VA
