Manual Machinist
Description

We are hiring skilled machinists to support our manufacturing operation in a shop-based environment. This role is focused on producing quality parts to specification, following established procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting safe, reliable production. Depending on assignment, this position may perform CNC machine operation using proven programs or manual machining work involving setup, repair, and rework of components to print.

Requirements
  • Operate CNC lathes and mills using established programs to produce parts to print
  • Set up and operate manual engine lathes, knee mills, drill presses, and related shop equipment to machine, repair, and rework components
  • Verify work orders, materials, tooling, and setup instructions before beginning production
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, setup sheets, and work order specifications
  • Monitor machine performance by checking gauges, dials, load meters, and other indicators during operation
  • Remove finished workpieces, change tooling, and apply approved tool wear offsets within defined limits
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other measuring tools provided
  • Complete inspection records, material traceability documentation, and other required production reporting in a timely manner
  • Follow all job procedures, setup sheets, and quality requirements exactly; report discrepancies before continuing work
  • Perform routine operator-level machine maintenance, maintain a clean work area, and report equipment concerns promptly
  • Provide feedback to shop leadership on tool performance, machine condition, and opportunities to improve process reliability
  • Perform all work in compliance with ISO, API, QHSE, company, and regulatory standards

  • Ability to work carefully within established procedures, specifications, and quality standards
  • Strong attention to dimensional accuracy, documentation, and inspection detail
  • Comfort working independently for extended periods in a hands-on production environment
  • Ability to interpret prints, tolerances, and machining instructions accurately
  • Steady follow-through in repetitive production tasks while maintaining workmanship standards
  • Sound judgment in recognizing when issues fall outside approved limits and should be escalated
  • Working knowledge of machining tools, measuring instruments, and shop safety practices

Other Requirements

  • Experience operating CNC machines and/or manual machining equipment in a manufacturing or repair environment
  • Ability to perform work on-site in the shop
  • Willingness to support production, repair, housekeeping, and other assigned shop duties as needed
