Established in 2023, The Gate Golf Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding access to golf and creating a lasting impact on the Southwest Florida community. Scheduled to open in late 2026, The Gate will feature:
- Oakwood Grill - 175-seat freestanding full-service restaurant
- The Pavilion Bar
- The Gimme - quick service restaurant
- The Bays 30-bay state-of-the-art practice range with Trackman technology
- The Gater 18-hole putting course
- Jacobsen-Hardy designed 9-hole regulation-length golf course
The Gate is designed to make golf more accessible to families and players of all skill levels, while providing high-quality golf and hospitality experiences at affordable rates.
Position Overview
The server is responsible for providing attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly service to guests throughout their dining experience. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The server will accurately take and enter orders, deliver food and beverages, anticipate guest needs, maintain a clean and organized service area, and ensure that each guest receives a welcoming and memorable experience. The ideal candidate is personable, dependable, team oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, professional, and attentive service throughout their dining experience.
- Accurately explain menu items, ingredients, daily specials, and beverage options while answering guest questions.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them correctly into the point-of-sale system.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and according to the presentation and service standards.
- Monitor tables throughout the meal, anticipate guest needs, and provide timely refills, additional items, and assistance.
- Maintain knowledge of menu offerings, ingredients, preparation methods, and applicable dietary or allergy information.
- Process guest checks and payments accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked tables, service stations, and assigned areas.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, fellow bartenders, hosts, managers, and team members to ensure smooth service.
- Address guest questions, requests, and concerns professionally and seek management assistance when appropriate.
- Follow all restaurant sanitation, food-safety, service, and operational standards.
- Complete opening, closing, side-work, and cleaning duties as assigned.
- Support fellow team members during busy periods and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred; relevant customer service experience may also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage service with the ability to learn and confidently communicate menu offerings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine focus on guest satisfaction.
- Ability to work efficiently and remain professional in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when taking orders, entering information, and processing payments.
- Ability to effectively use point-of-sale systems and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
- Knowledge of basic food-safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff, bartenders, management, and fellow servers.
- Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and well-presented.
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays or other items for extended periods.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.
- Any required food-safety, alcohol-service, or other applicable certifications must be obtained and maintained.
