CED's current salary range for this role is $102,500 to $138,500 / year. At CED, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, location and geography. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Metrologist supports CED’s Quality Control function in developing metrology programs and calibration systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance of measurement instruments, equipment, and testing procedures. Additionally, the Metrologist develops calibration schedules, standard operating procedures, and documentation to support compliance with company procedures and other applicable regulatory requirements. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Lead and execute activities related to the measurement of material in the CMM equipment across the different departments of the company; provide metrology expertise and guidance to all levels of the organization
• Escalate and resolve metrology related issues with Engineering and Supply Chain, with respect to ‘inspectability’, statistical analysis and reporting; cross-functionally collaborate to problem solve and resolve conflict
• Create programs for CMM equipment; evaluate effectiveness and performance of equipment and programs
• Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve manufacturing challenges and make recommendations for continuous improvement; ensure work product complies with CED’s QMS
• Interpret complex data, troubleshoot measurement issues, and develop innovative solutions 
• Support supplier source inspection activities with cross functional team per process definitions and requirements
• Support assigned supplier quality activities such as inspection techniques, drawings / prints, vendor source inspections, and acceptance data packages for new or existing vendors
• Monitor work completed and escalate concerns to Quality Assurance leadership; ensure work product complies with CED’s QMS
• Lead compliance of and advocacy for customer or industry requirements needed for product inspection, design, or assembly
• Knowledge of customer expectation with regards to inspection and documentation requirements
• Initiate and follow through non-conformance reports (with the support of supervisor or manager) through closure

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Ensure 100% compliance with the Chemring Operational Framework, Code of Conduct and U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
• Support other quality activities such as audits, customer support and NCR process
• Special projects and additional duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

N/A

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or ability to gain certification within 12 months of placement 

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years experience in Metrology
• Minimum of 5 years experience CMM Programming (PC-DMIS)
• Minimum of 3 years experience within the Quality Assurance discipline (e.g. Inspection, QC) and within a regulated environment

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Lawful US Person (ITAR restrictions)
• Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices
• Certified GD&T training (including Certification on ANSI Y14.5)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
• Proven skills utilizing professionally recognized problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 5W, Fishbone, Root Cause, etc.
• Comfortable interacting professionally with customer quality representatives and inspectors; ensures alignment with customer inspection and documentation requirements 
• Comprehension of flow down requirements from AS9100 or similar
• ISO17025 experience desired
• Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, D365)
• Strong verbal and written skills and ability to work effectively with and influence  internal and external customers
• Ability to shift focus during periods of competing priorities

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Daily and extensive computer usage. Up to 30% travel required.
