The Collections Clerk position is to maintain correspondence, cards, invoices, member files, and other classified or indexed records so that they are easy to retrieve when needed. Searches and investigates information contained in files, inserting additional data, preparing reports, and supplying written information on request.
Key Responsibilities
- Process collateral protection insurance policies and claims.
- Process all third-party billings, payments from remarketing companies, and other payments received; disburse funds from members’ accounts for financial counseling to pay accounts.
- Research, process, and report all Credit Bureau disputes in a timely manner.
- Retrieves files, both paper and optical, for the Collection Department; Periodically purges files from the Collection Department's files to be returned to Central Files for documents to be scanned.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience
- Interpersonal Skills: Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
- Other Skills: 1. Excellent written and oral communication skills. 2. Must be able to operate a PC and other office related equipment with speed and accuracy. 3. Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Sharepoint, Excel, Word) is highly desired.
- Physical Requirements: Physical qualifications include sitting at a computer/workstation for extended periods of time while wearing a headset to communicate with members telephonically. Ability to lift/carry up to 10 pounds.
