Schedule: Monday - Friday 4 hours a day
Salary: $22.00-26.00 an hour

Qualifications
Education: Associates Degree in Human Services or equivalent experience in food service. Serv-Safe Certification or willingness to achieve.
Credentials: Valid NY State Driver License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Experience: Knowledge of nutrition, safe food handling practices/regulations, basic cooking skills. Understanding of food security and sensitivity to the social conditions related to poverty/hunger. Experience working with volunteers.
Relevant years of experience and education will be considered
General Description
Represents Catholic Charities as staff presence at the Elmira Community Kitchen to provide support/assistance to volunteers and supervision of Capabilities workers. Assists the program Director in assuring smooth and effective operations of the meal program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Be present during meals.
- Assure kitchen, dining room, storage rooms, bathrooms, building are kept clean and stocked.
- Assure equipment is well-maintained and in good repair.
- Maintain inventory control system to identify/secure needed supplies and rotation of food for timely use and safety.
- Receive and stock deliveries of donated and purchased commodities. Pick up donations/purchases when required.
- Promote compliance with all local, State, Federal safe food handling practices/regulations; and promote compliance with Catholic Charities policies and procedures. Record meal guest count. Prepare monthly statistical report.
- Assist volunteer chefs with meal preparation/plating/serving when needed.
- Assist volunteer dining room hosts in welcoming guests and promoting hospitality and harmony during meals.
- Assure entrances are accessible and clear of snow; and perimeter free of debris/trash.
- Supervise group volunteer experiences; assist community partner agency on-site outreach to guests.
- Assist ECK Director in planning and hosting volunteer training; participate in meetings of volunteer chefs and dining room hosts.
- Participate in outreach events to represent ECK and Catholic Charities.
- Help maintain/update Volunteer Contact/Commitment information file.
- Other job-related duties requested by supervisor.

- Ability to work in a cooperative and helpful manner with all individuals
- Willingness and ability to foster agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques.
