Finishing Hand - Deburr
Description

Job Summary:

Performs removal of burrs and sharp edges from machined parts utilizing buffers and/or hand tools as required. Detail oriented, following manufacturing drawings, routings and company policies/procedures.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Works from drawings, routings and verbal instructions.
  • Performs wire brushing, polishing, scraping, buffing, filing and cleaning of parts as required
  • Proactively interacts with others to obtain assistance as necessary to solve problems.
  • Inspects parts per instructions provided in order to produce quality products
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities as needed
  • Maintains overall good housekeeping practices
  • Complies with company quality and safety requirements


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience

Minimum Competencies:

  • Familiar with manufacturing drawings, routings, and general deburring procedures
  • Experience with micrometers, plug/thread gages, and other related inspection equipment
  • Familiar with manual and automated polishing techniques
  • Good communication skills and works well in a team environment
  • Knowledge of a variety of inspection equipment and techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training such as related college course work, vocation training, certificate programs or apprenticeship training strongly preferred

Preferred Competencies:

  • Training in LEAN manufacturing

Operational Details / Work Environment

  • This position operates in a shop environment with moving machinery.
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting is required. This would require the ability to lift up to 20 lbs and bend or stand as necessary.
