Role & Responsibilities
CyKor is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a federal Enterprise SD-WAN program and integration of SD-WAN capabilities with the Coastal Sentinel initiative. This position will provide hands-on network engineering, integration, deployment, troubleshooting, and Tier 3 technical support across a complex C5I environment.
The Engineer will serve as a dedicated technical integration resource focused on ensuring Coastal Sentinel network requirements are successfully incorporated into the enterprise SD-WAN architecture without disrupting the broader production deployment schedule. The position requires an engineer who can operate independently at federal sites, work directly with architects and government technical stakeholders, and resolve integration issues across multiple network and security dependencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support design, integration, deployment, testing, and troubleshooting of Cisco SD-WAN solutions within federal enterprise environments.
- Serve as a primary engineering resource for Coastal Sentinel integration with the Enterprise SD-WAN architecture.
- Assess Coastal Sentinel site requirements and identify dependencies, configuration changes, equipment requirements, and technical risks affecting SD-WAN implementation.
- Perform hands-on router, switch, WAN, LAN, and associated network integration activities at federal operational sites.
- Develop, review, and validate device configurations in accordance with approved federal network architecture and security requirements.
- Support installation, configuration, migration, cutover, validation, and post-deployment troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with SD-WAN architects, provisioning engineers, automation engineers, NetOps/Tier 3 personnel, cybersecurity teams, project management, and government stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, transport, connectivity, performance, and interoperability issues.
- Validate network connectivity and application/service reachability following deployment or configuration changes.
- Support root-cause analysis and remediation of network incidents and integration defects.
- Identify technical conflicts between Coastal Sentinel requirements and existing or planned network modernization efforts and develop recommended technical courses of action.
- Support development and execution of implementation plans, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), test plans, rollback procedures, and acceptance criteria.
- Capture lessons learned, configuration changes, technical decisions, and site-specific requirements for incorporation into future deployments.
- Provide Tier 3 engineering support during deployment, stabilization, and transition to operations.
- Participate in technical working groups, design reviews, deployment planning sessions, and customer engineering discussions.
- Support rapid response to emerging technical issues that could affect SD-WAN or Coastal Sentinel deployment milestones.
Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award with an expected start date in October 2026.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible network engineering experience supporting enterprise or large-scale network environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
- Demonstrated experience implementing, integrating, or supporting enterprise SD-WAN solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of routing protocols and technologies, including BGP, OSPF, IP addressing, route redistribution, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, and WAN connectivity.
- Experience troubleshooting complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues.
- Experience performing network migrations, hardware replacements, site cutovers, and production network deployments.
- Ability to analyze network diagrams, configurations, requirements, and technical documentation.
- Experience developing or executing implementation plans, MOPs, test procedures, and rollback plans.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate resolution across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate directly with technical and government stakeholders.
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Ability to travel to federal facilities and operational sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNP Enterprise or equivalent advanced Cisco certification.
- Cisco SD-WAN / Catalyst SD-WAN implementation experience.
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst 8000-series routers and 9000-series switching platforms.
- Experience with Cisco ISE, network access control, segmentation, or Zero Trust Network Access environments.
- Familiarity with network automation and Ansible Automation Platform.
- Experience integrating multiple C5I systems or mission applications into enterprise network architectures.
- Previous DHS, DoD, or federal network engineering experience.
- Experience supporting geographically distributed shore-side or operational networks.
- Familiarity with STIGs, cybersecurity controls, ATO requirements, and federal network security standards.
