The Junior Industrial Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting, designing, and provide technical guidance for the industrial projects. This role ensures that project designs, technical specifications, and deliverables meet client requirements, safety standards, and regulatory codes. This position collaborates closely with the automation team, project managers, technical teams and our other engineering departments to provide technical leadership and ensure successful project execution from start to finish.
- Understand client requirements and needs, transforming challenges into technical solutions, defining SOW and technical definitions, along with all needed details and an execution plan to be included in Technical Proposals.
- Develop, review, and support engineering designs approvals, calculations, and technical documentation for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Provide technical support on projects, ensuring engineering solutions are feasible, cost-effective, and meet design intent.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
- Actively work on specified engineering activities in a hands-on manner as needed, in accordance with the strategy for that specific Project.
- Collaborate with technical leaders, project managers to develop work plans, resource allocations, and schedules.
- Be part of the design review meetings, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting solutions.
- Support commissioning and testing, ensuring systems operate according to specifications.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with safety standards, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control system engineering, including PLC, HMI, VFD, robotics, and Vision Systems.
- Proficiency in engineering software (Including but not limited to AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN, Studio 5000, TIA Portal, or equivalent).
- Ability to read, interpret, and verify technical drawings, schematics, and vendor specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage technical priorities and provide accurate solutions under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical leaders, project managers, engineers, and field personnel.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety codes, and best engineering practices.
- Understanding of project lifecycle, from conceptual design to construction and commissioning.
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Systems Engineering or related discipline. (REQUIRED)
- 1 to 4 years of experience in project engineering for industrial, energy, or automation projects. (REQUIRED)
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Travel to customers, suppliers and project sites as required.
- Periodic visits to job sites and shops.
