We collaborate with detention facilities across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia to fulfill all commissary and vending needs. Commissary Clerk responsibilities are divided into specific roles, with each team member receiving cross-training in all aspects of the position. As team members gain proficiency, experience, and knowledge, their training expands to encompass additional processes.


This position is primarily based at the Charleston County Detention Center, with required weekly travel to Dorchester County Detention Center every Friday to complete commissary handouts. Vending responsibilities at Charleston are focused on servicing machines designated for facility staff.



Core Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Pulling inmate commissary orders
  • Unloading trucks
  • Loading trucks
  • Receiving and labeling inbound product
  • Putting away received product
  • Restocking vending machines designated for staff within the Charleston detention facility
  • Making deliveries to inmates within the detention facility
  • Traveling to Dorchester County Detention Center every Friday to complete commissary handouts
  • Using MSC’s custom software to track issues and run reports
  • Performing related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintaining compliance with all company and detention facility policies and procedures regarding safety


Requirements


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to handle basic math, calculate totals, and manage inventory
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within established routines and accepted practices
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must have a clear background
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions while meeting productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
