Avalon Consulting, an innovative, full-service fundraising marketing agency, is seeking a Senior Fundraising Copywriter to develop compelling, strategic, mission-driven creative for nonprofit organizations advancing environmental conservation, social justice, cultural arts, and other meaningful causes.
At Avalon, every copy project is an opportunity to make a difference. As a Senior Fundraising Copywriter, you’ll serve as the lead writer for a portfolio of clients and tackle a diverse slate of projects, from acquisition and renewal campaigns to appeals, newsletters, email, digital creative, and donor cultivation communications.
But this role goes beyond great writing. You’ll be a strategic creative partner to our client teams, helping shape messaging strategy, leading creative conversations, contributing to messaging audits, and bringing fresh ideas to the table. You’ll also help strengthen Avalon’s Copy team by sharing expertise and best practices and contributing to processes and tools that make our work even better.
We are proud to be a fully remote workplace, where team members work from home offices across the U.S., with occasional travel for client meetings, industry events, or company gatherings.
What We Need
You will be a great fit for us if you possess:
- At least 3 years of professional experience writing compelling and effective fundraising copy, with significant experience across multiple types of fundraising campaigns
- Demonstrated expertise writing direct mail and digital fundraising communications, including acquisition, appeals, renewals, cultivation, newsletters, and email
- The ability to serve as a lead writer and trusted creative partner for multiple clients and projects simultaneously
- A demonstrated ability to understand and reflect different organizational voices, audiences, missions, and messaging frameworks
- Strong creative concepting skills and the ability to translate fundraising strategy into persuasive, donor-centered messaging
- Confidence participating in client meetings, brainstorming sessions, messaging discussions, and creative kickoffs as a subject-matter expert in fundraising copy
- Strong editing, proofreading, grammar, and quality-control skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, shifting timelines, and tight deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
- A collaborative approach and an interest in coaching, mentoring, and sharing knowledge with other writers and colleagues
- Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, along with comfort using virtual collaboration and project management tools

The budgeted salary range for this position is $85,000-$90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
