Maine Veterans’ Homes is looking for dedicated and reliable Cooks to join our culinary team! We currently have two full-time opportunities available, offering different weekend schedules to accommodate your preferences.

Whether you prefer working every weekend or having every other weekend off, these positions offer a consistent schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star parents.

Schedule

Both positions are full-time, working 40 hours per week across five 8-hour shifts.

• Opening 1: Every weekend
• Opening 2: Every other weekend

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and dietary requirements
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines
• Ensure meals are appetizing, nutritious, and served on time
• Work closely with dietary staff to accommodate special diets and resident preferences
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas

• Cooking experience in a healthcare, institutional, or commercial kitchen preferred
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, organized, and respectful demeanor
• Ability to understand and respond to residents’ needs and inquiries in English is required.
• Basic computer skills
