Lead Residential Advisor
Description


The Lead Residential Advisor provides high-level support to the Transitional Housing Residential Program by balancing direct resident care with the coaching and oversight of Residential Advisors (RAs). This role ensures daily operations align with the facility schedule and that RAs receive the necessary peer support and training to deliver quality services.


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide daily direction and peer oversight of Residential Advisors to ensure consistent implementation of the facility schedule.
  • Ensure adequate coverage for the program by monitoring staff attendance and filling in for RA shifts as needed or directed
  • Conduct routine room inspections and facility rounds, ensuring all documentation is completed by the team.  
  • Assist the Supervisor in providing individual and group training for Residential Advisors upon hire and annually. 
  • Provide ongoing "just-in-time" coaching and support to RAs to improve service delivery and documentation accuracy. 
  • Model professional communication and "Mission Advocacy" for the team. 
  • Collaborate with case manager to ensure resident goals and targeted outcomes are reflected in daily activities.
  • Establish rapport with residents, assisting them with learning skills in the facility and the community. Case management role-community linkages 
  • Respond timely to emergency or urgent needs, ensuring the Supervisor and Program Director are immediately notified. 
  • Maintain an accurate daily/weekly census, including admission and discharge dates.
  • Ensure resident files are kept up to date, wit all services signed, dated, and stored in the appropriate chart location.
  • Participate in management staff meetings to stay informed of agency changes and provide feedback on program effectiveness.
  • Ensure the daily schedule in the facility is followed. 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Follow the Plan of Care for facility and community-based training. 
  • Document all activities and services provided per the plan of care.
  • Communicate any recommendations/concerns regarding the implementation of the plan to the Residential Supervisor.
  • Ensure the Residential Supervisor is notified of any emergency or urgent needs related to the well-being or safety of residents and facilities. 
  • Establish ongoing rapport with residents and assist them with learning and implementing skills in the facility and in the community.
  • Ensure residents and his/her identified support systems are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Respond to resident needs promptly.
  • Implement training activities for residents. 
  • Report to the Residential Supervisor regarding progress, regression, or recommendations.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings to open lines of communication and stay informed of agency, program, and facility changes. 
  • Participate in support groups and other facility activities if requested. 
  • Records, plans, legal forms, and other documentation are kept accurate and up to date.
  • All services provided are documented and appropriately signed and dated, and in the appropriate location in the chart based on funding source, policy, and supervisor.
  • Documentation reflects current services, interventions, participant participation, progress toward goals, and/or any challenges or barriers to achieving goals. 
  • Participate in training activities and programs as required by funding source, policy, and supervisor. 
  • Participate in training for certifications, credentials, or specialties as determined appropriate by Easterseals Louisiana, funding source, or supervisor.
  • Complete a minimum of 40 hours of training per year
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Minimum of a high school education; some college is preferred

B. Must possess and be able to verbalize a thorough understanding of recovery and resiliency related to behavioral health

C. Must have own reliable transportation

D. Able to multitask and meet deadlines

E. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

F. Have basic skills to use a computer: word processing, browsers and web-based applications

G. Must be a team-player

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS with or without accommodation:

A. The employee is regularly required to operate a computer, file and retrieve written documents, communicate with others on the phone and in-person

B. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands, and lift and/or move lightweight items

C. Move independently within the facility and community

D. Must be able to travel and meet with participants as needed

Work is performed in a residential setting that is environmentally controlled.
