POSITION SUMMARY

The Dining Room Server is responsible for providing table service in the community dining rooms, from preparing tables and taking orders to serving meals and clearing dishes. This position works closely with the culinary and dining teams to ensure meals are served accurately, efficiently, and courteously.

The Server also assists with maintaining clean and sanitary dining areas, responds to resident and guest requests, and helps support overall dining operations as needed.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Set tables and maintain dining and service stations in proper order.
  • Greet residents and guests and provide gracious, attentive table service.
  • Take meal orders and deliver requested items accurately and courteously.
  • Answer questions about menu items and assist with meal selections when needed.
  • Clear and reset tables during and after meal service.
  • Record meal checks, reservations, and additional charges using the POS system.
  • Maintain a high level of service for residents and their guests.
  • Assist with dishwashing and distribution of clean dishes when needed.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary conditions in dining and work areas.
  • Complete assigned cleaning and side-work tasks.
  • Maintain appropriate personal hygiene and follow department dress code.
  • Attend required in-service training and educational sessions.
  • Work cooperatively with residents, guests, families, coworkers, and other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of serving experience preferred.
  • Previous table service experience in a hotel, restaurant, club, fine dining, hospitality, or senior living environment preferred; training may be provided.
  • Current state-required food safety/sanitation certification or license, as applicable.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to explain menu items, answer questions, coordinate meal service, and respond appropriately to requests.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a courteous, gracious, and professional approach.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisors, and coworkers.
  • Working knowledge of POS systems preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions 

  • Works indoors and must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, including throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds independently.
  • Ability to push and pull bus carts weighing up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and balance throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely perform assigned duties in a fast-paced dining environment.
