POSITION OVERVIEW FOR THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Agilitech is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager. The Business Development Manager supports the Engineering Services and is responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic business development, client relationship management, market development, and sales activities. This position serves as a key external-facing representative of the Company and is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities while expanding relationships with existing clients.
The Business Development Manager will develop and execute strategies to grow the Company's engineering service offerings across targeted markets and industries. This role works collaboratively with executive leadership, the Engineering Manager, engineering personnel, and marketing resources to identify market opportunities, understand client needs, develop compelling solutions, and convert opportunities into profitable business.
A critical component of this role is partnering with the Engineering Manager during the development of proposals and sales opportunities. The Business Development Manager is responsible for understanding client needs, managing the commercial relationship, and advancing opportunities, while collaborating with the Engineering Manager to develop appropriate technical solutions, project scope, execution approaches, resource assumptions, and proposal content.

FOR THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Business Development & Sales
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans designed to achieve Company revenue and growth objectives.
- Identify, research, and pursue new clients, markets, industries, and business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and sales opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, clients, industry partners, and prospective customers.
- Proactively engage prospective clients through networking, referrals, industry events, conferences, direct outreach, and other business development activities.
- Develop strategies to increase market penetration and expand the Company's presence within targeted industries and geographic markets.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and increase business with existing clients.
- Maintain regular communication and engagement with key accounts to strengthen relationships and identify future opportunities.
- Meet established sales, revenue, pipeline, and business development objectives.
- Track and report sales activity, opportunity status, pipeline development, and conversion performance.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary relationship manager for key prospective and existing clients.
- Develop a thorough understanding of client businesses, challenges, strategic objectives, and service needs.
- Build trusted relationships that position the Company as a preferred long-term service provider.
- Conduct regular client meetings, presentations, lunches, industry events, and other relationship-building activities.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business, expanded services, and strategic partnerships.
- Participate in client project reviews and relationship discussions to identify opportunities for improvement and future business development.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure client expectations and business opportunities are effectively communicated.
- Help resolve commercial or relationship issues that could affect client satisfaction or future business opportunities.
- Gather market and client feedback to identify trends, opportunities, competitive threats, and potential improvements to Company offerings.
Proposal Development & Opportunity Strategy
- Lead the business development and client engagement process from initial opportunity identification through proposal submission and contract award.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Engineering Manager to evaluate prospective opportunities and develop appropriate solutions for client needs.
- Partner with the Engineering Manager during proposal development to define project scope, technical approach, deliverables, assumptions, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Gather and communicate client requirements and expectations to the Engineering Manager and appropriate technical personnel to ensure proposals accurately address client needs.
- Coordinate proposal development activities and ensure the commercial, client, and technical components of proposals are aligned.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to develop proposal strategies that balance client requirements, technical capabilities, competitiveness, and profitability.
- Support the development of pricing and commercial strategies in collaboration with executive leadership and the Engineering Manager.
- Prepare and coordinate client presentations, proposals, capability statements, and other sales materials.
- Maintain responsibility for advancing proposals and opportunities through the sales process, including client follow-up, clarification, negotiation, and contract discussions.
- Coordinate with the Engineering Manager and project stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition of awarded work from the sales process into project execution.
- Maintain the client relationship following project award and identify opportunities for additional or repeat business.
Sales Strategy & Market Development
- Partner with executive leadership to identify strategic growth opportunities and target markets.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging industries, customer needs, competitive conditions, and potential service opportunities.
- Develop targeted strategies for entering new markets and expanding existing market presence.
- Monitor industry trends, customer demands, and competitive activity to identify new business opportunities.
- Recommend strategic partnerships, alliances, and market initiatives that support Company growth objectives.
- Collaborate with Marketing and other internal resources to develop campaigns, messaging, presentations, and collateral that support business development efforts.
- Represent the Company at industry associations, conferences, trade events, networking functions, and client meetings.
Financial & Performance Accountability
- Maintain accountability for individual business development and sales performance against established goals.
- Monitor sales pipeline, backlog opportunities, conversion rates, revenue potential, and other key business development metrics.
- Provide regular reporting to executive leadership regarding sales activity, market opportunities, client relationships, and projected revenue.
- Evaluate the quality and strategic value of potential opportunities based on Company capabilities, market position, profitability potential, and long-term relationship value.
- Contribute to annual revenue forecasting and strategic growth planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve sales effectiveness, client retention, market penetration, and business development processes.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field, and/or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, client relationship management, or strategic account development.
- Demonstrated success developing new business and growing client relationships.
- Experience selling complex technical, engineering, industrial, automation, controls, or professional services preferred.
- Experience working with engineering, automation, controls, industrial services, manufacturing, construction, or related technical industries.
- Experience selling professional or technical services to commercial and industrial clients.
- Experience participating in the development of technical proposals, scopes of work, and client solutions.
- Established network of industry relationships within relevant target markets.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no direct or indirect supervisory responsibility. The Business Development Manager works collaboratively with executive leadership, the Engineering Manager, engineering personnel, project teams, and other Company resources but does not have responsibility for employee supervision, performance management, staffing, discipline, compensation decisions, or operational management.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
