Description

Are you an experienced CNC Machinist ready for a role where you can put your skills to work—not just push a button? A&K Railroad Materials is looking for a CNC Machinist II to join our growing Kansas City, KS manufacturing team.


With more than 65 years in the railroad industry, A&K manufactures specialized trackwork products used throughout the United States. Our CNC Machinists play an important role in turning raw materials into precision components that support the railroad infrastructure.


This is a hands-on machining position for someone who has real CNC experience and is comfortable with machine setup, blueprint reading, G-code, inspection, and troubleshooting. You don't need to be a master programmer, but you should be able to work independently, make adjustments, and solve problems when the job doesn't go exactly as planned.


What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture precision rail components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, G-code, work orders, and machine specifications
  • Perform measurements and inspections using calipers, tape measures, and other measuring tools
  • Make machine adjustments and troubleshoot machining issues to maintain quality and production
  • Use manual tools and equipment as needed to support manufacturing operations
  • Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures while maintaining an organized work area


Requirements

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a dependable machinist who takes pride in their work and can confidently operate in a production environment.


Required:

  • Previous CNC machining experience
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and G-code
  • Ability to use basic precision measuring tools, including calipers
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or GED

Experience with 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC machines is strongly preferred. Manufacturing, machining, metal fabrication, or heavy industrial experience is a plus.
