Requirements


The Cathedral's Administrative Assistant is a dedicated individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of the values and mission of the Catholic Church. The Administrative Assistant will serve as the first point of contact for visitors, parishioners, and staff, providing exceptional customer service while supporting the Cathedral's administrative needs.   


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Answers all phone lines and greets the public with a friendly demeanor, providing information and direction as needed.  
  • Works with volunteers to count all Church donations.  Prepares all money deposits and posts donation amounts.  
  • Manages petty cash and money receipts for miscellaneous items. 
  • Manages multiple channels of correspondence including website inquiries, thank you letters, holiday mailings, and Julia Greeley books and card mailings.  
  • Provides information on rental assistance and other charity referrals.  
  • Performs general administrative duties such as filing, data entry, mail processing, and ordering of supplies. 
  • Schedules Mass Intentions. 
  • Regularly adds to and makes updates to the parish calendar. 
  • Maintains accurate sacramental records- data entry into sacrament books and end of year reporting of sacraments to Archdiocese. Ensures confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information and responds to requests for records. 
  • Coordinates Baptisms and Funerals.  
  • Updates donor gift amounts and ensure accurate reporting of year-end giving amounts to respective donors.  
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned. 


What We’re Looking For:  

Education and Experience: 

  • Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative or similar role preferred  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite  
  • Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, and conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals 

Competencies and Qualifications: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to multitask, manage time and prioritize tasks  
  • Customer service attitude  
  • Possess excellent organizational and computer skills. 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new online interfaces 
  • Possess the ability to positively interact with diverse populations within the Cathedral and outside visitors both in person and on the phone 
  • Represent the parish office with the professionalism at all times 


Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity both near and far, manual dexterity with good eye/hand coordination, good hearing and speech
  • Standing walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, and squatting also will be required as necessary to perform the duties of the position
  • This position requires ability to sit for extended periods
