Summary

Provide oversight and leadership while managing the daily operations of the team. Supervise support staff to ensure accurate documentation, packaging, and instrument maintenance to guarantee timely, effective workflow through the value stream. Facilitate compliance with all regulations, laws, etc. related to all product documentation. Incumbent is responsible for process review and identifying initiatives, software enhancements, technology advancements, etc. to enhance the efficiency of operations.

Ensure accurate maintenance/updating of logs, maintaining correct manuals, and ensuring adequate reserves of inventory/supplies.


Authority

Incumbent has the authority to perform and/or assign tasks and duties, designate priorities, start or stop operations within the department, and make departmental personnel decisions to ensure an efficient workflow. Authority is granted to stop work which permits any employee at any level to halt a job or task when a hazardous situation appears imminent or they feel unsafe.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Operations

  • Generate the Certificates of Analysis and labels for stock products
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of industry standards as related to areas of responsibility
  • Maintain LIMS database and ensure product documentation accurately generated
  • Regularly update Safety Data Sheets and products labels to ensure GHS compliance
  • Ensure website/SDS portal(s) populated with appropriate product documentation
  • Liaison with outside vendors to ensure project completion and effectiveness
  • Identify special projects that will enhance the efficiency of operations within areas of responsibility
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure effective workflow
  • Develop detailed workflow plans, identify action items and assign timelines to ensure meeting established deadlines
  • Develop/maintain adequate departmental metrics to allow proper evaluation of departmental workflow and/or staffing needs
  • Maintain a “big picture” perspective of workflow and awareness of business needs.
  • Keep management informed of areas of concern and/or project timelines and deadlines
  • Attend applicable training, user group meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Primary tester of future LIMS updates or updates to other applicable systems

Team Leadership

  • Supervise a team of Packaging Technicians charged with packaging out bulk quantities of product for stocking the finished goods shelves
  • Supervise Production Lab Assistants charged with maintaining QC instrumentation as well as Packaging Automation to ensure maximum uptime for the value stream
  • Provide leadership and oversight to all department operations to ensure adequate working capacity
  • Ensure accuracy of stock documents, templates, and documentation not approved by the Stock Lab Supervisor or auto generated
  • Represent the department at meetings and ensure flow of communication
  • Other special projects/assignments/duties as assigned


Requirements

Qualifications

Required –

  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of LIMS systems
  • PC proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
  • Ability to quickly learn company product line(s) and catalog offerings
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to remain flexible to changing demands and work loads


Preferred –

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced education or training and job-related experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Chemistry experience, particularly related to hazards and safety
  • Previous working knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Proficiency with Crystal Reports and template design
  • Knowledge of company product line(s) and catalog offerings


Salary Range: $65,000- $72,000/ annually

Salary Description
Salary Range: $65,000- $72,000/ annually
