ARC of the Treasure Coast is seeking a compassionate and motivated Employment Consultant (Job Coach) to provide individualized employment support to individuals with disabilities. This position helps individuals develop workplace skills, learn job duties, maintain employment, and work toward greater independence in the workplace.
The Employment Consultant works closely with individuals, families, employers, vocational rehabilitation partners, and other community partners to identify employment opportunities and provide the support needed for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized job coaching and employment support at community-based work sites.
- Teach and reinforce workplace skills, including communication, professionalism, time management, task completion, and problem-solving.
- Assist individuals in learning job duties while promoting independence and the use of natural workplace supports.
- Assess individual strengths, interests, abilities, and employment goals.
- Assist with job development, placement, and matching individuals with appropriate employment opportunities.
- Provide ongoing follow-along support to help individuals maintain employment.
- Build positive relationships with employers and educate them on supporting employees with disabilities.
- Monitor individual progress and provide feedback to individuals, employers, families, and the appropriate ARC team members.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to services, progress, and employment activities.
- Collaborate with vocational rehabilitation, employers, families, and community partners to support employment goals.
- Advocate for individuals and promote inclusive employment opportunities.
- Ensure services are provided in accordance with ARC policies, program requirements, and funding guidelines.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years of professional or personal experience working with individuals with disabilities required.
- Experience in job coaching, supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, human services, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of supported employment practices and workplace accommodations preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families, employers, and community partners.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, patient, and flexible with the ability to support individuals with varying needs.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human services, education, psychology, social work, rehabilitation, or a related field preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a Level II background screening.
- Ability to travel between community employment sites as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist individuals throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
