Description
This is an hourly position in Manteno, IL that reports to the QC Supervisor and is responsible for conducting temperature readings for all finished products prior to shipments, maintaining organized files of results for later reference; responsible for inserting temperature recorders in finished product shipments, downloading data when recorders are received, maintaining log for records. Assist the Quality Technicians in product evaluation, analytical tests of batches, weight monitoring & ensuring that all specifications are met. Works closely with other QC Technicians, Receiving, Shipping & Customer Service team
Requirements
- Thermometer calibration & documentation of results.
- Check product temperatures based on Daily Aging Report
- Check product temperatures following list of products per shipment schedule.
- Provide temperature readings to Customer Service & Shipping teams to ensure customer temperature requirements are met before delivery; CDA is obtained on non-compliant items prior to delivery.
- Insert Pak Sense temperature recorders for shipments to various customers as per QC Supervisor instruction /schedule.
- Retrieve Pak Sense temperature recorders from the trailers, download data, & put them back on the trailers until recorder is fully utilized.
- Download the Pak Sense temperature recorders to generate Pak Sense report for QC Supervisor review & to be able to publish interpretation of results.
- Ensure QC retains in the cooler area are maintained in an orderly manner, expired products (> 7 mos.) are disposed regularly by coordinating with warehouse.
- Attach MRB & SSR tags on finished non-compliant products, WIPs or raw materials.
- Remove MRB tags on non-compliant products that have been released & are put back to QOH status.
- Maintains sufficient supply of Pak Sense recorder & pre-paid return envelopes for temperature recorders to be sent with products to various customers.
- Maintain records of temperature readings, including temperature recorder log.
- Assist QC Technician on product testing when temperature check duties are completed. Assist in QC lab maintenance, keep the lab in orderly manner.
- Assist QC Supervisor or R&D Supervisor per following: a) retrieve retain samples during product complaints investigation or shelf-life extension events. b) retrieve samples from WIP Totes containing non-conforming batches or expired products for further evaluation or dispositions. c) collect finished product samples from returns (RA) for evaluation; assist in the inspection.
- Responsible for incoming raw materials & packaging material inspection, following critical raw materials inspection SOP.
- Assist in completing COA & other document filings.
- Weekly inspection of raw materials & finished products in various coolers; attention to thawed raw materials that may have passed shelf-life & need sample for evaluation.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- Degree or Technical background in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc. or equivalent work experience.
- Competence in math & analytical calculations.
- Good organization skills & detailed reporting skills.
- Good communication & interpersonal skills.
- Able to work flexible hours occasionally for inspections, overtime as necessary depending on shipping schedules.
- Prior experience in food manufacturing environment is an advantage.
Salary Description
$54,080 / yr.
