Lead Packing - 2nd shift
Description

  

The Packaging & Logistics Lead is responsible for overseeing daily packaging operations and coordinating all internal shipping and receiving activities to support efficient material flow throughout the facility. This role ensures products are packaged accurately, safely, and in accordance with company quality standards. The position also manages the loading and unloading of trucks, verifies incoming and outgoing materials, and maintains accurate documentation and inventory records. Working closely with Production, Warehouse, and Quality teams, the Packaging & Logistics Lead helps support on-time order fulfillment, minimize delays, and maintain an organized, safe working environment. This role serves as the primary on-floor leader for packaging processes and shipping/receiving tasks.


  

Packaging Operations

  • Lead      day-to-day packaging activities to ensure products are packaged according      to specifications and quality standards.
  • Set      up, operate, and troubleshoot packaging equipment as needed.
  • Ensure      correct labels, materials, and packaging supplies are used for each      product.
  • Monitor      packaging throughput and coordinate with Production to maintain workflow      efficiency.
  • Train      and guide packaging team members on safe and effective work practices.
  • Verify      quality of packaged goods and escalate issues to Quality or Production.
  • Maintain      cleanliness and organization in the packaging area following 5S standards.
  • Register      production and quality data accurately in the ERP system.

Shipping & Receiving

  • Coordinate      the loading and unloading of inbound and outbound trucks.
  • Verify      incoming shipments for accuracy, damage, and proper documentation.
  • Prepare      outbound shipments, ensuring materials are staged, wrapped, labeled, and      documented correctly.
  • Move      materials safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse      equipment.
  • Update      logs, system entries, and paperwork for all shipping and receiving      transactions.
  • Stage      materials for production and ensure they are delivered to the correct      locations.

Inventory & Documentation

  • Maintain      accurate counts of packaging materials and report shortages to the      supervisor/manager.
  • Perform      routine cycle counts or assist with inventory audits.
  • Ensure      all packaging, shipping, and receiving documentation is completed      accurately and on time.
  • Support      traceability requirements by properly labeling and tracking materials.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce      all safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe material-handling      procedures.
  • Conduct      or support safety checks on equipment, tools, and work areas.
  • Immediately      report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents.
  • Ensure      packaging and logistics activities comply with company procedures and      quality standards.

Team & Workflow Support

  • Act      as the on-floor lead for packaging and logistics activities, helping      coordinate priorities and tasks.
  • Assist      with training new team members in packaging and shipping/receiving      processes.
  • Communicate      production needs, material shortages, or delays to appropriate internal      teams.
  • Support      continuous improvement initiatives in packaging, material flow, and      workplace organization.

Qualifications:

  • Technical      diploma or equivalent experience in manufacturing or industrial      operations.
  • Proven      experience in a production environment, preferably with profiling and      packaging machinery.
  • Strong      mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience      with ERP systems and forklift operation (license preferred).
  • Excellent      leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment      to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
