Description

This is an hourly position in Manteno, Illinois reports to the Warehouse Manager. The Logistics Specialist will oversee inbound / outbound transportation operations to ensure on time and accurate deliveries to all warehouses and customers.

Requirements

Warehouse Administration Operations:

· Monitor the transportation scheduling process.

· Facilitate and provide support for on-time deliveries of all shipments.

· Determine the most efficient and economical routing of shipments to include Value Added Services.

· Coordinate the transfer of finished goods to the 3PL sites.

· Coordinate with customers, 3PL warehouses, freight forwarders, Brokers, and internal departments on transportation services.

· Input shipment information into customer or freight company’s website.

· Calculate shipment specifics to include cube, pallets, weight, etc.

· Work with Accounting to reconcile transportation cost issues. Address overcharges by carriers.

· Keep Customs Schedule B numbers and freight classifications up to date.

· Prepare customs paperwork as required.

· Investigate the root cause of damage and shortages, file freight claims as required.

· Update On Time in Full report.

· Keep track of transportation industry trends, carrier changes, and export compliance & regulations.

· Participate in Fiscal Year End Inventory count.


Safety and Compliance: 

· Follow all warehouse safety procedures as directed by management. 


Quality Control: 

· Follow quality control measures to ensure that all outgoing shipments meet company standards and customer requirements.

· Report any quality issues or discrepancies promptly and follow corrective action procedures.


Skills: 

· Communicate (verbally and written) in English.

· Multi-tasking with strong time-management skills.

· Ability to resolve inventory related discrepancies.


KPIs and Reporting

· Follow daily and weekly KPIs as directed by Supervisor and Manager.


Skills / Knowledge / Experience 

 

· High School Diploma, Associate, or bachelor’s degree preferred

· Three to four (3-4) years + of proven and relevant work experience, preferably in a 3PL food transportation / distribution setting. Familiar with Parcel, LTL, TL, and International Shipping.

· Experience with Incoterms, National Freight Classification, Export Compliance, and Customs Documentation preferred.
