Summary
The Investment Grade Credit Analyst is responsible for evaluating, recommending, and monitoring investment-grade corporate credit investments. The analyst will conduct fundamental credit research, assess relative value across issuers and securities, and provide actionable investment recommendations to portfolio managers. The role requires strong financial analysis, sound credit judgment, and the ability to communicate investment conclusions clearly and concisely.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental credit analysis of investment-grade corporate issuers across assigned industries.
- Evaluate business models, competitive positioning, industry dynamics, management quality, and financial performance.
- Analyze financial statements, capital structures, cash-flow generation, leverage, liquidity, refinancing needs, and debt-service capacity.
- Develop financial forecasts and assess credit performance under base-case and downside scenarios.
- Identify relative-value opportunities across issuers, sectors, maturities, seniority levels, and the credit curve.
- Monitor portfolio holdings, new issuance, rating-agency actions, earnings results, market developments, and changes in credit spreads.
- Partner with portfolio managers and traders on portfolio construction, trade execution, and risk management.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related discipline.
- Three to seven years of experience in credit research, fixed-income investing, commercial banking, rating-agency analysis, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting, fixed-income securities, and credit markets.
- Experience evaluating investment-grade corporate bonds and new-issue transactions.
- Proficiency with Bloomberg, Excel, financial modeling, and market-data platforms.
- Experience covering financial institutions or other specialized sectors is beneficial.
- An undergraduate degree from a highly ranked school, with a strong academic track record
- 2+ years post-undergrad experience at a commercial bank, investment bank (banking or research) or accounting firm
- Prior investment grade credit analysis experience is a plus
- Solid modeling skills, strong analytical and financial acumen
