Position Summary
Indigo Signs are looking for a dependable, motivated Sign Shop Production Helper to assist with day-to-day production throughout our sign manufacturing facility. This is an entry-level to developing position designed for someone who enjoys hands-on work, is willing to learn, and wants to develop skills within the sign industry.
The Production Helper will work with multiple departments rather than being assigned to only one area. Responsibilities may include sign assembly, material preparation, vinyl and graphics work, packaging and shipping, general production assistance, and keeping work areas organized.
This position provides an opportunity to learn the sign manufacturing process from start to finish and develop skills in multiple areas of the business.
Primary Responsibilities
Sign Production & Assembly
- Assist with the assembly and fabrication of various types of signs and sign components.
- Perform basic mechanical assembly using hand and power tools.
- Install hardware, fasteners, brackets, electrical components, faces, trim, and other sign components as directed.
- Assist experienced production employees with larger or more complicated projects.
- Learn to read work orders, drawings, measurements, and basic production information.
- Help inspect completed work for quality and accuracy.
Production Preparation
- Gather and prepare materials needed for upcoming jobs.
- Measure, cut, clean, sand, drill, deburr, mask, and otherwise prepare materials for production.
- Prepare sign faces, panels, aluminum, plastics, and other materials for assembly or graphics.
- Stage materials and completed components for the next step in production.
- Help ensure jobs move efficiently between departments.
Vinyl & Graphics
- Assist the vinyl and digital graphics department as needed.
- Weed, mask, trim, and prepare vinyl graphics.
- Clean and prepare substrates for vinyl application.
- Assist with applying vinyl, decals, and graphics to sign faces, panels, vehicles, and other surfaces.
- Learn proper vinyl application and finishing techniques.
- Help organize vinyl, printed graphics, substrates, and production materials.
Shipping & Receiving
- Package completed signs and components for shipment or installation.
- Protect finished products from damage during transportation.
- Assist with building crates, wrapping signs, preparing pallets, and packaging smaller items.
- Verify that the correct signs, components, hardware, and materials are included with outgoing jobs.
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
- Help receive, inspect, and organize incoming materials and supplies.
General Shop Assistance
- Provide help wherever needed throughout the production facility.
- Move materials and completed products between departments.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
- Put away tools, materials, hardware, and supplies after use.
- Assist with inventory organization and restocking commonly used materials.
- Help with general shop cleanup and maintenance.
- Follow company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
- Perform additional production-related duties as assigned.
Learning & Development
A major part of this position is learning the sign business. The employee will have opportunities to work alongside experienced team members and gain exposure to multiple areas of sign manufacturing.
Over time, the employee may learn:
- Sign assembly and fabrication
- Vinyl and graphic production
- Sign face and substrate preparation
- Basic electrical sign components and LED systems
- Production equipment and machinery
- Reading drawings and work orders
- Material identification and proper material handling
- Quality-control procedures
- Packaging and shipping methods

- How a sign project moves from production through installation
As skills and experience develop, the employee may be given increased responsibility and opportunities to specialize in particular areas of production.

Qualifications
- Previous sign-industry experience is not required; we are willing to train the right person.
- Dependable and able to maintain consistent attendance.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable working with hands and performing physical tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Basic ability to use or willingness to learn hand and power tools.
- Ability to accurately use a tape measure is preferred.
- Good attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently as skills develop while also working effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to move between departments and assist wherever needed.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials associated with sign production.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, construction, fabrication, graphics, automotive, woodworking, or similar hands-on work is helpful but not required.
