Job Summary
HB Wealth is seeking an Investment Proposal Writer to lead the development of persuasive, accurate, and highly tailored responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for information (RFIs), consultant databases, due diligence questionnaires, and other new business materials that support the growth of the firm's OCIO practice. This role translates complex investment, operational, risk, and firm information into clear responses that reflect each prospect’s priorities and differentiate HB’s approach. The successful candidate is a professional writer who combines exceptional command of language with curiosity, sound judgment, and disciplined project management.
Job Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end proposal process, including intake, requirements analysis, work planning, drafting, editing, review coordination, approval, and final production.
- Study each prospect, institution, consultant, and opportunity to identify decision drivers, required themes, and opportunities to tailor the response.
- Write compelling, nuanced responses that are specific to the prospect and consistent with HB’s voice, value proposition, capabilities, and fiduciary approach.
- Interview investment professionals and other subject-matter experts to develop clear explanations of investment philosophy, governance, portfolio construction, risk management, operations, technology, compliance, and client service.
- Partner closely with the Senior Investment Advisors, Investments, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Technology, Finance, Human Resources, and other contributors.
- Create proposal outlines, content plans, win themes, executive summaries, and presentation materials that support finalist meetings and other business-development activity.
- Maintain and continuously improve an approved content library, including standard responses, supporting data, case examples, team biographies, and reusable exhibits.
- Manage multiple concurrent deadlines, track open items and approvals, and escalate risks early to ensure complete and timely submissions.
- Review all materials for accuracy, consistency, grammar, tone, formatting, and responsiveness to stated requirements.
- Monitor recurring questions and market themes and recommend improvements to OCIO messaging and supporting content.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, writing, journalism, communications, or a related field.
- Three or more years of professional writing experience, including proposals, RFPs, institutional investment content, financial services, or another complex professional-services environment.
- Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, and synthesis skills, with a portfolio demonstrating persuasive long-form business writing.
- Experience writing OCIO, institutional investment, asset management, or investment consulting proposals.
- Working knowledge of consultant databases and proposal-management or content-library systems.
- Demonstrated ability to tailor content for different audiences rather than relying on generic or lightly modified responses.
- Strong project-management skills and the ability to coordinate senior contributors under firm deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail, judgment, organization, and discretion.
- Working comfort with institutional investment vocabulary: asset allocation, manager selection and due diligence, investment policy statements, spending policy, liquidity, fee structures, benchmarks, and performance attribution. Genuine curiosity to learn quickly what is not already known.
- Proven ability to manage several concurrent hard deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to successfully pass criminal background and credit checks.
