Description

Position:  Director of Marketing and Communications

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt 

Reports To: President & CEO

Summary: The Director of Marketing and Communications will work with the Foundation staff, Board of Directors, donors, and other constituents to effectively market and communicate a positive image of the Foundation throughout the Fox River Valley, in which the Foundation is the leading philanthropic entity to support donors in meeting their philanthropic objectives and is steadfastly committed to advancing the well-being of residents throughout the Fox River Valley through grants and scholarships. 

The Director of Marketing and Communications is a key component of the small team at the Foundation, representing and telling the story of all its programs, services, and day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for implementing and continuously improving a cohesive marketing, public relations, and communications plan with established annual goals and deliverables. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following, in addition to other duties as assigned by the President & CEO. 


Marketing and Public Relations:

· Market services and programs by developing and implementing marketing and advertising campaigns.

· Identify key target markets working with Community Foundation staff.

· Track data on the effectiveness of various campaigns and techniques that are used to motivate existing donors and track additional donors to the Foundation.

· Prepare marketing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, and track the increase of engagement with the Foundation.

· Produce promotional materials and gifts for key constituents and program recipients as needed by staff.

· Create and manage an annual marketing calendar. 


Communications: 

· Communicate the Foundation’s programs and giving options to the key target markets via various sources, i.e., print, digital, and social media.

· Create and manage an annual communications calendar.

· Create and solicit content for communication pieces from key internal and external stakeholders.

· Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, and track the increase of engagement with the Foundation.

· Publish an Annual Report, Connections magazine, and other materials in print and digital formats.

· Produce monthly e-newsletters and communicate messages that promote the services available and opportunities for connecting with the Community Foundation.

· Maintain the social media presence of the Foundation, offering content that is appropriate, creative, and interesting to the Foundation’s constituents.

· Maintain the website pages of the Foundation, working with the Foundation staff, creating content that is relevant to the current issues in the community, creating and updating donor profile pages, revising and editing pages so that it clearly reflects the Foundation’s mission and services.

· Seek new and creative ways to recognize donors for their commitment to the Foundation through print, digital and social media. 

· Promote and assist in the planning and implementation of successful educational, engagement, and other stewardship activities and events for various constituents.

· Maximize communication of giving options that demonstrate the benefits of philanthropy for current and prospective donors, through print, digital, and social media.

· Identify opportunities to increase the Foundation’s visibility within the community and if appropriate on a national level.

· Integrate various communication vehicles into one consistent branded message.


Administration: 

· Prepare information for the Board of Directors as needed on the impact of the communications plan.

· Work with staff to monitor the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and communications materials within the database.

· Maintain accurate mailing lists and work with Foundation staff to update regularly.

· Manage the budgets for communications, public relations, and marketing contracts, vendors, and events.

Requirements

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 5 years of experience.

2. Highly organized and creative, with extreme attention to detail

3. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

4. Proficient computer skills; database experience; knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Office 365.

5. Proficient in WordPress and other content management systems with experience creating, updating and maintaining web content.

6. Graphic design experience including proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign and Illustrator.

7. Proven experience in digital marketing, Hootsuite experience preferred.

 8. Project management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

9. Ability to adapt to the increasing demands of a growing organization and interest in process improvement.

10. Ability to work in a high-paced environment and take initiative in new projects.

11. Ability to work as a team member, collaborating with and supporting other staff as needed

12. Ability to have customer service as a top priority

13. Willingness to work some evenings and weekends

14. Not-for-Profit experience preferred.

15. Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field.


Compensation & Benefits

The Foundation provides a competitive compensation package consummate with experience and qualifications including vacation time, health, dental, and vision insurance, and a matching 403(b) deferred compensation package. 

Salary Range: $80,000 – 90,000
