Assistant Director of Housing & Homeless Services
Description

The YMCA of Broome County is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Housing & Homeless Services to help lead the daily operations of our residential housing and homeless services programs in Binghamton, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced human services, supportive housing, homeless services or residential program professional ready to take the next step into leadership.


Working closely with the Housing Director, you will help oversee daily housing operations, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, safety, emergency preparedness, facility operations and program reporting while helping ensure residents receive services in a safe, professional and supportive environment.


Schedule

Full-Time:  Sunday–Thursday 11:00 AM–7:30 PM


What you'll do

As the Assistant Director of Housing & Homeless Services, you'll help manage the day-to-day operations of the YMCA's residential housing programs and support the Housing Director in maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and service. Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee daily housing and residential program operations to maintain a safe, functional and compliant environment for residents, employees and visitors. 
  • Supervise and support the Resident Support Officer/Security team, including scheduling, training, staff development and performance management. 
  • Monitor employee performance and ensure staff meet program expectations and operational standards. 
  • Conduct regular audits of safety logs, inspection forms, incident documentation and staff records. 
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable housing program regulations, policies and reporting requirements. 
  • Review and update emergency preparedness and safety plans and ensure required employee training remains current. 
  • Collect and analyze program information for monthly and quarterly reports. 
  • Coordinate with the Housing Director on program performance, operational needs and regulatory requirements. 
  • Monitor facility and maintenance concerns and ensure work orders and repairs are completed promptly. 
  • Participate in community partnerships and meetings related to homelessness, housing and coordinated services. 
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training and employee evaluations. 
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality, professionalism and boundaries when working with residents and staff.

 

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in a related human services field 
  • Associate's degree in Human Services, Social Work or a related field preferred 
  • Knowledge of homeless services, supportive housing, community resources or residential programs 
  • Knowledge of mental health and substance-use issues 
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills 
  • Ability to supervise employees and manage multiple operational priorities 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism 
  • Comfortable working in a residential human-services environment

Salary Description
