About the Role

Global Packaging Systems (GPS) is looking for an experienced CNC Set-Up / Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up and operate CNC equipment to produce quality parts that meet customer and work-order specifications.

The ideal candidate is a skilled machinist who can confidently set up tooling, fixtures, work coordinates, and offsets; read and interpret blueprints; make basic machine edits; and inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment.

This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in quality, works well independently, and enjoys being part of a team.


What You'll Do

  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and machine manuals to determine proper CNC machine setup.
  • Set up tooling, tool holders, vises, and fixtures.
  • Machine soft jaws and fixtures as needed.
  • Establish work piece coordinates and machine offsets.
  • Set up and run the first part on repeat jobs.
  • Make tool offset adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Run CNC production parts as required.
  • Inspect completed parts using appropriate precision measuring and metrology equipment.
  • Complete required inspection and production documentation.
  • Operate CNC machines in single-block mode and make basic machine edits.
  • Manually input and run G- and M-codes as needed.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance activities.
  • Deburr parts before moving them to the next operation or completion.
  • Provide direction or oversight to other CNC Operators when assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned by management.
Requirements

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of CNC machining experience, including approximately 2 years of CNC setup experience and 2 years of CNC operator experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of CNC tooling and fixture setup.
  • Experience establishing tool lengths, work coordinates, and fixture offsets.
  • Ability to make basic CNC machine edits.
  • Ability to manually input and run G- and M-codes.
  • Experience running CNC programs in single-block mode.
  • Ability to use precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to apply algebraic concepts.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently as well as as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical, vocational, or associate degree in CNC machining or a related field.
  • Experience with Mastercam or other CNC programming software.
  • Experience machining soft jaws and fixtures.
  • Experience providing guidance or oversight to other CNC Operators.

Salary Description
$24.00-33.00/hr
