About the Role
The position will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of digital marketing strategies for the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina in support of our mission to attract businesses to North Carolina and provide expansion support for businesses already in the state. This role owns the end-to-end digital ecosystem, including website, CRM, paid and organic channels, and marketing automation, ensuring alignment across all touchpoints to drive measurable business outcomes. The Digital Marketing Manager will translate organizational goals into integrated digital strategies, oversee execution across internal teams and agency partners, and optimize performance. Success will be measured by growth in qualified leads (MQLs and SQLs), engagements, and overall marketing ROI.
What You’ll Do
Work in collaboration with key departmental contacts within the EDPNC, on the Marketing & Research team, and with our outside agencies to develop, execute and manage digital marketing assets that support the organization’s marketing strategy and promote the EDPNC and North Carolina brands.
Digital Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and own the comprehensive digital marketing strategy, aligned to EDPNC’s business and recruitment goals.
- In coordination with Marketing leadership, define channel mix, audience strategy, and budget allocation across paid, owned, and earned digital channels.
- Manage and monitor KPIs and measurement frameworks tied to business outcomes (lead generation, pipeline, conversions, engagement).
- Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors as they related to digital channels, ensuring performance, accountability, and alignment with strategy.
- Serve as the digital marketing subject matter leader across the organization, advising leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Oversee the utilization and optimization of the marketing technology stack to support comprehensive omnichannel campaigns.
Email & CRM
- Own the CRM and marketing automation strategy, including segmentation, lifecycle marketing, and lead nurturing.
- Oversee development and execution of multi-touch, full-funnel campaigns, ensuring alignment with audience journeys.
- Drive continuous optimization of Salesforce and Pardot ecosystems to improve lead quality, scoring, and conversion.
- Partner with Salesforce Administrator to ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system scalability.
- Identify opportunities to expand CRM utilization across departments and deepen audience insights.
Website & Digital Experience
- Own the digital experience strategy for EDPNC.com, ensuring it supports conversion, engagement, and storytelling goals.
- Lead website roadmap planning, including UX/UI improvements, content strategy, SEO, and technical enhancements.
- Translate analytics into actionable insights and testing roadmaps.
- Oversee agency partners and internal contributors to ensure continuous site improvement and innovation.
Analytics & Performance Management
- Owns performance reporting and insights, translating data into strategic recommendations.
- Develop and present regular reporting on digital performance and ROI.
- Establish a culture of test-and-learn experimentation across channels.
Social Media
- Oversee organic social strategy to ensure alignment with broader marketing goals and campaigns.
- Guide content direction and ensure consistent messaging across platforms.
- Evaluate role of social media in brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal stakeholders (business development, communications, research, etc.) to align digital efforts with organizational needs/priorities.
- Ensure digital marketing supports sales enablement and stakeholder needs.
Other
- Stay current with emerging opportunities in the digital marketing industry; identify and communicate patterns and trends; leverage these trends into developing initiatives for customer engagement as well as gain enhanced efficiencies and productivity for the outward-facing teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, journalism, communications or related field experience
- At least 5-7 years of experience in digital marketing required, internship and/or volunteer experience will be considered.
- Experience developing and implementing digital strategy
- Experience managing agencies and working with cross-functional teams
- Experience with performance accountability
- Proficiency in managing websites and email automation is required.
- Proficiency with digital marketing tools and software, including but not limited to WordPress CMS, Google Analytics and other web-based monitoring tools (Hotjar, etc.); marketing automation platforms (Pardot a plus), and CRM integration (Salesforce)
- Knowledge of Adobe software, like Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Premiere Pro a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experienced with virtual meeting and collaboration platforms.

Travel and Work Conditions
- Moderate in-state and domestic travel is required
- Hybrid work environment based in Raleigh, NC or full-time remote
