Position Summary

The Post-Closing Banking Specialist is an in-branch role that combines mortgage post-closing expertise with retail banking support. The position is assigned to work in a branch in Spicer, Pennock, Raymond, or Willmar. It provides an additional on-site staff presence, especially in smaller or lower traffic branches, while completing post-closing responsibilities and supporting branch customers throughout the workday.


This position requires strong mortgage post-closing experience, regular in-person branch presence, and flexibility to support customers and employees across our MN branches. Digital, phone, chat, and email support supplements the role's primary in-branch responsibilities.



Core Responsibilities


Mortgage Post-Closing and Operational Support (70-80%)

  • Review closed mortgage loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with investor, agency, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete post-closing audits and resolve outstanding conditions, deficiencies, and documentation exceptions.
  • Prepare and deliver loan packages to investors, agencies, warehouse lenders, and custodians within required timelines.
  • Monitor and clear trailing documents, including recorded mortgages, title policies, final inspections, and other required collateral documentation.
  • Coordinate corrections and curative actions with closing, processing, underwriting, title companies, attorneys, investors, and internal business partners.
  • Ensure accurate delivery of loan data, documents, and certifications to secondary market investors and custodians.
  • Track post-closing pipelines and maintain aging reports to ensure timely completion of loan sale and collateral requirements.
  • Review and process investor purchase conditions, suspense items, and funding exceptions.
  • Manage mortgage electronic document storage, imaging, indexing, and retention requirements.
  • Assist with investor audits, internal audits, quality control reviews, compliance examinations, and documentation requests.
  • Maintain knowledge of agency, investor, and regulatory requirements including FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, TRID, HMDA, RESPA, and other applicable mortgage regulations.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Assist with collateral file maintenance, document tracking, shipping, certification, and delivery requirements.
  • Support mortgage quality control activities and remediation of identified findings.


Branch Banking and Customer Support (20-30%)

  • Work on-site in a Spicer, Pennock, Raymond, or Willmar branch and provide daily retail coverage based on staffing and business needs. 
  • Assist customers with deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, cashier’s checks, and other teller transactions. 
  • Support account opening and account maintenance activities as needed. 
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through in-person, phone, email, chat, and digital channels. 
  • Educate customers on digital banking tools, payment options, and self-service resources. 
  • Assist branch teams during vacation coverage, staffing shortages, training periods, or special projects. 
  • Serve as an additional on-site staff member in smaller or lower-traffic branches while completing loan servicing work and remaining available to assist branch customers. 
  • Maintain cash handling, balancing, security, and dual control procedures when assigned retail responsibilities. 
  • May serve as the designated owner and subject matter expert for assigned retail banking procedures, providing training, maintaining documentation, supporting process improvements, and acting as a resource for branch teams.


Secondary Responsibilities

  • Participates in all required BSA training and demonstrates knowledge of BSA relative to job responsibilities.
  • Responsible for security as it applies to this position.

Qualifications


Education

  • Associate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Banking, or a related field preferred. 
  • Equivalent mortgage or banking experience may be considered. 

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of mortgage post-closing, mortgage operations, mortgage servicing, loan administration, or related banking experience required.
  • Retail banking, teller, or customer service experience preferred. 
  • Experience working with mortgage closing packages, investor delivery requirements, collateral documentation, and post-closing functions required.
  • Secondary market or investor delivery experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of mortgage post-closing processes and regulatory requirements. 
  • Understanding of conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and portfolio mortgage products. 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. 
  • Ability to work on-site and travel among the Spicer, Pennock, Raymond, and Willmar branches as assigned. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Encompass, and banking software platforms. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive customer information.

$20.77 to $31.15 an hour
