Fortem Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (C++) to lead the integration of third-party sensors and mitigation systems into Fortem’s established SkyDome Family of Systems. In this role, you will design and build robust C++ software that connects new radar, RF, EO/IR, acoustic, and mitigator hardware into Fortem’s command-and-control platform, enabling rapid onboarding of best-in-class third-party technology alongside Fortem’s own TrueView sensors and DroneHunter interceptors.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement C++ (C++17 or higher) software that integrates third-party sensors (radar, RF, EO/IR, acoustic) and mitigation systems (RF jammers, kinetic interceptors) into the SkyDome command-and-control platform
• Develop and maintain driver/interface layers, SDKs, and protocol adapters (e.g., ASTERIX, NMEA, proprietary vendor APIs) for new sensor and mitigator integrations
• Partner with hardware, systems engineering, and product teams to define integration requirements and interface control documents (ICDs)
• Build and maintain automated test harnesses to validate sensor and mitigator data fidelity and system-level performance
• Debug and resolve real-time data processing and multi-threading issues across distributed sensor networks
• Participate in design and code reviews, upholding high standards for reliability and maintainability
• Support field testing and deployment of newly integrated capabilities at customer sites
• Other engineering duties and tasks as assigned by the Director of Software Engineering or otehr engineering leadership

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional software development experience in C++, with required proficiency in C++17 or higher
• Experience integrating third-party hardware/sensors (radar, RF, EO/IR, acoustic) via serial, Ethernet, or custom protocols
• Strong understanding of multi-threaded, real-time, and networked systems programming
• Experience developing in Linux-based environments
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with hardware and systems teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with counter-UAS, radar, or other defense/aerospace systems
• Familiarity with ASTERIX, DDS, ROS/ROS2, or similar sensor fusion middleware
• Experience with sensor fusion, track correlation, or multi-sensor data processing
• Active or ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance
• Experience with containerized deployment (Docker/Kubernetes)
