Fairfax Neonatal Associates (FNA) is seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide PRN coverage in the NICU at Inova Children’s Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.

This role is designed for an experienced neonatal provider who can work collaboratively with the NICU care team and provide safe, family-centered care based on departmental coverage needs.

PRN Schedule & Coverage

This is an as-needed position with shifts scheduled according to patient volume, staffing requirements, and PRN availability.

• Coverage opportunities may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• The number and timing of available shifts may vary from one scheduling period to another.
• Availability and scheduling expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

What You’ll Bring

• A deep understanding of neonatal pathophysiology and how it applies to a premature or sick newborn. 
• An understanding of ventilatory management in the NICU. 
• Up to  date neonatal resuscitation skills. 
• Strong clinical skills in neonatal-perinatal medicine and critical care      procedures. 
• Ability to interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests.  
• Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and family-centered care skills.  
• Proficiency in electronic medical records documentation and basic computer applications. (EPIC Preferred.)   
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented NICU environment.  
• Current Board Certification as a Neonatal-Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with NICU experience.  
• VA Nursing license, VA APP license, DEA Certificate, NRP Certification, BLS Certification  
• At least 2-3 years of experience working in Level IV NICU(s). 

What You’ll Be Doing

• Coordinate and manage NICU patient care in collaboration with NICU care teams.
• Provide patient education, discharge guidance, and specialist referrals as needed.
• Communicate patient updates, significant clinical changes, and care plans with the multidisciplinary team and families.
• Document patient progress, treatment plans, and other clinical information accurately in EPIC.
• Perform neonatal procedures, including intubation, umbilical lines, PICC insertions, thoracentesis, and moderate sedation.
• Provide thorough patient handoffs and follow hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

Compensation 

• $105.00 per hour.  
• Shift differential pay available for eligible shifts worked.
